30-21 of SCOREGolf‘s Top 100 Canadian Courses
30. Tobiano Golf
Few settings can rival what Thomas McBroom had to work with at Tobiano, a desert course on rumpled land overlooking Kamloops Lake. The dunes-covered property is visually spectacular.
Public
29. Stewart Creek
A great example of a modern-day architect showing restraint when building a mountain course, Gary Browning’s Stewart Creek in Canmore, Alta., is both beautiful and eminently playable.
Public
28. Predator Ridge Golf Resort – Ridge
Cut largely through a wooded hillside, exposed rock outcroppings, tall pines and the shimmering waters of Lake Okanagan provide a stunning contrast in colours for the Ridge Course at Predator Ridge.
Public
27. London Hunt and Country Club
London Hunt is a Robert Trent Jones layout that swells and sinks over land located close to the Thames River in London, Ontario. Rees Jones made renovations to the course in 1999.
Private
26. Goodwood Golf Club
Goodwood is pure golf — no clubhouse, no fancy amenities, no distractions. Just 18 sublime holes over mostly open and rolling land with a few frames ducking into trees on the back nine.
Private
25. Devil’s Pulpit
Devil’s Pulpit is big, bold and stunning, with some of the most thrilling holes in the country. Long views of Toronto’s skyline and CN Tower can be seen from the tee of the fantastic opening hole.
Private
24. Big Sky Golf Club
Bob Cupp’s scenic Big Sky makes a big jump up the ranking this year and comes in at number 24. Cupp laid out a series of excellent holes at the base of Mount Currie that call for golfers to be smart, precise and creative.
Public
23. Humber Valley Resort
Humber Valley might be the most overlooked great course in Canada, though it gets its due on the Top 100. With its nines cascading in opposite directions from a hilltop clubhouse, Humber Valley offers a sensational golf experience along the Humber River.
Public
22. Coppinwood
Tom Fazio’s Coppinwood is a pristine layout surrounded by protected environmental land that provides it with some beautiful vistas. Large, multi-tiered greens and an excellent back nine highlight this course.
Private
21. Victoria Golf Club
A.V. Macan’s Victoria Golf Club is as breathtaking as courses come thanks to a stretch of front-nine holes that hug the Pacific Ocean. Shared fairways and contrasting colours make the course a delight to play, as does a recent restoration by Jeff Mingay.
