Super Improvements

We all want to hit the ball farther and keep it in bounds, but are we playing a ball that’s specifically engineered to make that happen? Truth is, the vast majority of golfers can benefit from a ball that’s a little softer, easier to hit, and provides solid distance on less than solid strikes.

Callaway’s spent significant hours developing two new balls, Supersoft and Supersoft MAX, which provide slower swing speed players an all-around advantage from tee to green.

SuperSoft

If you’re a mid to high-handicap player with a slower swing speed, you’re going to notice the improvements Callaway’s made with their Supersoft ball. As a low-spin, higher launching ball, Supersoft helps mitigate wayward misses while also delivering generous distance.

Covering the Bases

New this year is Callaway’s hybrid cover that leverages a PARALOID Impact Modifier—a truly one-of-a-kind compound developed by DOW Chemicals. This innovative tech enables greater versatility in the ball’s reaction to certain shot types. Off the tee it delivers low-spin and a high launch, yet it’s soft and responsive around the greens.

Hex Aerodynamics

Callaway has implemented their leading aerodynamic technology to increase distance by lessening drag, resulting in a higher launch and longer carry.

Low Compression Speed

We’ve all seen super slo-mo videos of Tour players compressing their balls into ovals, however, the majority of players don’t have swing speeds that benefit from a high compression ball. Instead, Supersoft uses a High Speed Soft Compression Core, which delivers a faster ball speed from slower swings.

“[For] the vast majority of impact speeds of average amateurs out there, a low compression golf ball actually gives them greater ball speeds, so we want that advantage,” explains Dr. Alan Hocknell, Callaway’s Sr. VP of Research and Development. “All of that produces a long, forgiving, high-flying golf ball that is a lot of fun to play.”

Is it for me?

Mid to high handicap players who often find themselves hitting first from the fairway will like the extra carry Supersoft provides. Whether you need a little extra control and feel around the greens, or want to launch it high, this ball delivers on both ends of the spectrum.

Supersoft Max

The softest, most forgiving ball in Callaway’s arsenal is Supersoft MAX. If you’re new to the game, or are struggling to get the ball airborne, you’ll find refuge playing one of the industry’s most generous, player-friendly balls. Ultimately, this ball is developed to get in the air and stay there.

“We want people to have more fun playing the game, we want them to enjoy the game more,” explains Jason Finley, Callaway’s Global Director of Brand Management. “It’s going to keep them coming back, particularly in this time when we have so many new entrants into the game.”

As Finley notes, with golf’s popularity booming, Callaway suspects the SuperSoft MAX will give newer players, as well as those with slower swing speeds, such as older golfers and young juniors, a chance to maximize their enjoyment on the course.

How’d they manage to make a ball super easy to play, even for the most novice of golfers? Well, it helps to make it bigger—literally. Supersoft MAX is oversized, giving players an extra jolt of confidence at address. Callaway also implemented an Ionomer cover to help reduce spin, while utilizing a low compression core that responds efficiently to slower than average impact speeds.

Is it for me?

If you’re new to the game, or have played for years but need a ball that’s super forgiving, you’re going to benefit most from Supersoft MAX’s incredible generosity. Tee it up and have fun—that’s what this ball’s all about.

  1. I have been using the chrome soft the last 2 years and my swing speed is 110 mph. Will I get more distance with the new super soft and super soft max . My distance is 245 -265 depending on wet or dry conditions. It suggests for slower swing speeds but didn’t mention what swing speed eg
    below 100 or below 90.
    Thanks
