Using the latest in technology and instilling it with the classic Scotty Cameron appeal, the new Phantom X line is catching on with players who are experiencing firsthand the benefits of a higher MOI putter.
Patrick Cantlay loves the Phantom X. Cantlay put one of the best putting performances in history in 2021 using a the Phantom X 5, lifting him to the elite league of the best players in the world. And while you might be thinking of the sexy blades Scotty Cameron has put out for years, the Phantom X is proving that mallets can be darned attractive—and help you hole more putts.
Seven new models of the Phantom hit our both online and instore this April, with three additional models coming in June. With new shapes and updates to existing models, the Phantom line has received a refresh, complete with new graphics and a textured grip.
“Each time I develop a line of putters, the new models go into the hands of the best players in the world. From tour players, we get critical insight into what works for them – what they are looking for – both overall and specifically,” says Cameron. “With these new Phantom X mallets, I have the benefit of the past few years of input from players and a line that’s already established on tour.”
Key tech
Steel and aluminum construction
Each new Phantom X has an integration of steel and aluminum, with nine models using a solid, precision-milled 303 stainless steel face and body that uses 6061 aircraft grade aluminum.
Tour-inspired shapes
Scotty gets tour pros to offer insight into his putters unlike any other designer in the world. That has resulted in new like precision milled solid stainless steel faces, sleek putter head profiles, refined alignment cues, high durability finishes, and specific shaft and neck configurations.
New grips
Each Phantom X putter comes with an updated Pistolero Plus grip with a non-slip and decorative texture that, like its Pistolero Plus predecessors, has less taper in the low hand.
Finish and graphics
All of the new line utilizes Scotty’s silver mist process for a near-permanent, radiant, yet glare resistant, appearance and texture. The 6061 aircraft grade aluminum components have been misted and anodized black.

Phantom X 5
Mid-mallet with single bend shaft. Used by Cantlay, among others, this has solid face configuration precision milled from 303 stainless steel, with an updated aluminum sole place and steel sole weights.
Phantom X 5.5
Inspired by Justin Thomas’ prototype. Its solid face/body configuration is precision milled from 303 stainless steel and integrated with the line’s updated aluminum sole plate and customizable stainless steel sole weights. Also available left-handed.
Phantom X 7
An angular wingback mallet. Completely updated for 2022 as a highly requested shape from tour players and introduced as the 2021 My Girl Limited, its long, sharp wings not only create alignment value but reposition weight farther back, increasing stability and MOI.
Phantom X 7.5
Angular wingback mallet shape. Identical to the Phantom X 7, but with a slant/jet neck to promote toe flow, this putter has a solid milled stainless steel face with an integrated aluminum flange/sole component with enhanced alignment options in its longer, sharper wing design.
Phantom X 9
High-MOI wingback mallet. Sharing design attributes of the popular Phantom X 5 and 11 shapes, this is an all-new putter with solid milled stainless steel face and wings integrated with a rounded 6061 aluminum flange-sole component for a unique profile with simple alignment cues.
Phantom X 9.5
High-MOI mallet. The follow-up to the 2021 Phantom X 9.5 Triple Black Ltd., this brand new mallet has a solid milled stainless steel face carried through to the body/wings integrated with a 6061 aluminum sole-flange component for a unique profile with enhanced alignment features and toe flow.
Phantom X 12
High MOI mallet. The new Phantom X 12 has the highest MOI in the line. With its single mid-bend shaft, swept-back wings precision milled from 303 stainless steel and aluminum face/body, this putter promotes forgiveness with its perimeter weighting and superior sound and feedback. Left-handed version also available.
Coming in June
Phantom X 5s
Mid-mallet. With a straight shaft and a milled topline sight line for players favoring a straight-back-straight-through putting stroke and zero offset, this straight shafted model has a solid milled stainless steel face, customizable sole weights and sports the line’s new precision milled aluminum sole plate design.
Phantom X 11
High-MOI face-balanced wingback. Updated with the 2022 sole design and new graphics, the new Phantom X 11 shares design similarities with the wingback Phantom X 12 and Phantom X 5, yet provides a new option in performance-oriented mallets for players seeking high MOI and stability in a more compact platform.
Phantom X 11.5
High-MOI wingback mallet. Identical to the Phantom X 11 except for its shaft configuration, the new 11.5 adds another compact mallet option to the high-tech Phantom X line.
