Driven by new tech, Rogue ST irons offer game improvement

With a new family of irons that offer everything from maximum game improvement through to hollow body player’s irons, the new Rogue ST line provides more speed and distance over four versions that will be on pre-sale beginning Jan. 21st and available on online and in stores  Fe. 18th.

Long.

That’s the goal of Callaway’s Rogue ST iron line, which uses high-strength steel and Flash Face Cup designed through artificial intelligence to create more ball speed and consistency across the clubface. With added precision tungsten weighting and urethane microspheres, Callaway has created a line that will appeal to everyone from newcomers seeking distance to better players who will gravitate to the hollow body design of the Max Pro.

Callaway has a lot to prove with Rogue ST. After all, its first line of Rogue irons was the top selling set for two years, an almost unheard of accomplishment. The goal with the new irons is to create unprecedented speed—two to three miles per hour, which equals four to six yards of distance—while providing different sets that appeal to a wide variety of golfers, ranging from high handicap players to single-digit golfers.

“Golfers are going to be really impressed by what we’ve come up with,” says Dave Neville, Callaway’s senior director of brand management. “There’s lots of speed, and great feel, which are key to success.”

As for the “jacked lofts” that Callaway gets accused of, Neville says there are stronger lofts in some clubs, while others actually have weaker lofts to make them fit in a set given gapping considerations.

Key technologies

High  Strength  450  A.I.  Designed  Flash  Face  Cup

New to the Rogue ST line is its use of 450 steel in combination with Flash Face Cup technology. The goal is to deliver more consistent ball speed across the face.

Face Optimization

Artificial intelligence was also used to develop a face optimization that is unique for each model in the Rogue ST line. This creates consistent spin and a high launch, as well as a controlled descent, ensuring shots will hold greens.

Precision  Tungsten  Weighting

There’s 62 grams of high-density tungsten in Rogue ST Max, an increase of 260% over MAVRIK irons. The goal of this is to provide great launch conditions across the face.

Patented  Urethane  Microspheres

A patented Callaway technology, the microspheres are pushed up the face (to the 6th groove) to improve sound and feel. “You get a forged feel out of an iron that isn’t forged,” says Neville.

Who are they for
