59. Gallagher’s Canyon

Kelowna, B.C. – Giveaway Date: July 31

A former PGA Tour Canada host, Gallagher’s Canyon is known for the wonderful vistas of Kelowna that it yields as you play along a canyon’s edge. Ponderosa pines line flowing fairways on this popular Bill Robinson design.

Parry Sound, Ont. – Giveaway Date: July 31

Secluded holes cutting through forest and rocky outcroppings are highlighted by the par-3 seventh at Seguin Valley. That hole spans McCrae Lake and golfers cross a 180-yard bridge connecting the tee deck and green.

57. Glen Abbey

Oakville, Ont. – Giveaway Date: July 31

Though it’s somewhat out of sight, out of mind these days, the former longtime host of the Canadian Open is still a very strong golf course with a stretch of excellent holes in the valley of its back nine preceding an exciting stretch coming home.

56. Wildstone

Cranbrook, B.C. – Giveaway Date: August 1

Wildstone’s fairways are framed by tall pine trees while golden fescue and white-sand bunkers provide brilliant colour contrasts. An excellent deal, the wonderfully conditioned course is the only Gary Player design in Canada.

55. Bear Mountain – Mountain

Victoria, B.C. – Giveaway Date: August 1

A dramatic round of golf is always on the menu at the Mountain Course at Bear Mountain given its extreme elevation changes and great finishing stretch. The clifftop par-3 14th hole overlooking Victoria Harbour is as good as it gets.

54. Fairmont Chateau Whistler

Whistler, B.C. – Giveaway Date: August 1

The Coast Mountain Range is the backdrop for the golf course at the spectacular Fairmont Chateau Whistler, which is marked by massive elevation changes, creeks, tall Douglas firs and rocky outcroppings.

53. Green Gables

New Glasgow, P.E.I. – Giveaway Date: August 2

A Stanley Thompson design reworked by Thomas McBroom, Green Gables is a treat to see given the iconic white and green farmhouse nearby. While that’s a highlight on the front nine, the best stretch of golf is on the back with holes 13 through 17 flirting with Lake of Shining Waters.

52. The Links at Brunello

Halifax, N.S. – Giveaway Date: August 2

Several jaw-dropping tee shots make The Links at Brunello a blast to play. The Thomas McBroom design is a sturdy challenge with several holes that feature the architect’s trademark exposed-rock look.

51. Lakeview

Mississauga, Ont. – Giveaway Date: August 2

The best municipal course in Canada might also contain the best collection of greens in the country. Small and wickedly sloped in places, the putting surfaces provide the primary defence at the shortish track built in the 1920s. Recent restorative work and tree removal has Lakeview looking as good as ever.

  1. Excellent golf course, every hole has its own challenges. The course is always in great condition, even when the redesign was going on. The staff are also very friendly.
