It is that time of year again! To celebrate the release of SCOREGolf’s Top 59 Canadian Public Courses, we are giving away a foursome to every course on the list! From Vancouver Island to Newfoundland, Canada is blessed with more than 2,000 beautiful public golf courses. This is your chance to play at one of the 59 best with friends and family. Make sure you follow along everyday on our Facebook Page, starting at #59 and working our way up to #1 for your chance to enter! For full contest rules, click here.
When SCOREGolf first launched its Top List in 2013, they chose 59 to coincide with golf’s coveted score, which had been carded at the game’s highest levels only a few times. Despite Jim Furyk coming along and bettering the score when he shot a 58 in 2016, the list remains the same size this year.
Using a rating scale that measures beauty, strategy, challenge, design, conditioning, Par 3s, Par 4s, Par 5s and fun factor, below is the Top 59 Public Golf Courses in Canada in 2019.

39-30 of SCOREGolf‘s Top 59 Canadian Public Courses
39. Wildstone
Situated on rolling highlands high above the city of Cranbrook, Wildstone has impressed since opening and has the good fortune of being the only Gary Player Design course in Canada. Fairways are framed by tall pine trees while golden fescue and white-sand bunkers provide brilliant colour contrasts.

Winner: Mike Banz
38. Taboo
Taboo — named for the areas where you’re not supposed to hit the ball — is a spectacular Ron Garl design that has helped make Ontario’s Muskoka Region one of the best golf destinations in the country. Taboo is filled with great holes, most of which feature the granite outcroppings that have come to define Muskoka golf.

Winner: Clarke Bell
37. Wolf Creek – Old
Rod Whitman’s first creation, the Old Course at Wolf Creek, showed the architect’s appreciation for the great links courses of the United Kingdom. It is marked by native fescue areas, devilish pot bunkers and inviting greens that encourage the ball be bounced onto them. This Old Course is a great test of restraint and playing smart.

Winner: Katie Doran
36. Copper Creek
A Greater Toronto Area favourite among public players, Copper Creek is a Doug Carrick creation that really struts its stuff beginning at the fourth hole. Several holes that wind through a wooded valley are its best, though the course’s most memorable test is the plummeting tee shot on the par-4 10th where water lurks all along the left side.

Winner: Gary England
35. Eagle Ranch
Eagle Ranch Resort is a great escape both for B.C. natives and Albertans crossing over the border and into the Columbia Valley for a weekend getaway. With holes perched along ancient bluffs overlooking the Columbia River, Eagle Ranch is pure paradise and makes a big rise in this year’s public course rankings.
Giveaway Date: August 5, 2019
Winner: Collin Pritchard
34. Kananaskis Country – Mt. Lorette
What a story Kananaskis Country is. After being destroyed by the historic Alberta floods of 2013, it is in full swing again with its Mr. Lorette treating golfers to an enjoyable day. The 1983 Robert Trent Jones design was put back together — and softened — by Gary Browning.
Giveaway Date: August 5, 2019
Winner: Tarek Van Doorne
33. Glen Abbey
The longtime host of the RBC Canadian Open hasn’t gone anywhere yet and continues to be a great play, especially after a much-needed bunker renovation. While some of the front-nine holes lack lustre, the valley holes still hold up. The Abbey has never looked better.
Giveaway Date: August 6, 2019
Winner: Boris Jazbec
32. Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu
This course is comprised of nines built by Herbert Strong in the 1920s and by Michael Hurdzan in the 2000s, making it one of the more unique Top 59 layouts. It sits high above the St. Lawrence River and features some fantastic plummeting holes that get the heart racing. Large greens will lull you into thinking par is an easy score.
Giveaway Date: August 6, 2019
Winner: Alain Brodeur
31. Bear Mountain – Valley
It’s billed as the Mountain Course’s tamer younger brother, but the Valley course at the popular Vancouver Island resort is no less dramatic. Jack and Steve Nicklaus crafted a number of spectacular holes in a valley terrain that is anything but flat. Highlights include the par-3 14th with its tee-to-green laced waste bunker and the risk-reward par-5 15th.
Giveaway Date: August 7, 2019
Winner: Zach Molholdt
30.Copper Point – Point
The Point Course at Copper Point has become a mainstay on SCOREGolf’s course rankings after years of being overlooked. A Gary Browning/Wade Horrocks collaboration, the Point features wide fairways and plenty of elevation changes through forested terrain.
