Every year, engineers are tasked to develop a driver that is not only faster and longer than its predecessor but the driver must be stable and consistent on any type of shot to help find more fairways and lower scores.

That is what you get from the best in the business in 2022, whether it is TaylorMade’s revolutionary Stealth, Callaway’s Rogue ST powered by artificial intelligence or Cobra’s LTDx – a new take on a classic.

Maybe you did not get the chance to test or go through a fitting to update that driver in your bag. If that’s the case—or maybe you’re just looking for something new—we want to give you insights to assist in making a purchase easier, highlighting some of the most prominent new drivers on the market.

Check out our blog on how a custom fit driver can add more distance and confidence to your golf game.

TaylorMade Stealth & Stealth HD

Stealth

The main driver in the line, that doesn’t offer the adjustable weight slot found on the Stealth+. Perfect for mid-handicappers searching for a mix of forgiveness and speed.

Stealth HD

HD means “high draw,” and that’s exactly what you get from this driver. Do you slice the ball (and let’s be honest, that’s most golfers)? If that’s the case, this is for you. By utilizing some of the weight savings in the face, TaylorMade has created a draw bias driver that’s highly forgiving.

Who is it for?

Stealth: Forgiving. This is a fairway-seeker.

Stealth HD: Draw-bias. If you slice the ball, think about this model.

Callaway Rogue ST Max & Max D

Rogue ST Max

The main version of the driver, you’ll get a slight draw bias on this version, though not as much as the Max D.

Rogue ST Max D

Built for the slicer, this driver offers a heavy draw bias, a more upright lie and a stretched profile at address that makes the driver appear more forgiving. “Maximum shot correction,” is the tag Callaway uses.

Who is it for?

Rogue ST Max —For the golfer who wants to not only bomb it from the tee, but also find the fairway.

Rogue ST Max D— Draw-bias. If you slice the ball, think about this one.

Cobra LTDx & LTDx Max

LTDx

The standard-bearing middle of the road option, LTDx combines forgiveness and distance with a subtle draw-bias.

LTDx Max

Whether you’re prone to slicing the ball or require a little extra forgiveness off the tee, the LTDx Max was created with you in mind. With an extreme draw bias attributed to 3 grams of weight in the heel to help square the clubface at impact, the LTDx Max leaves little to be desired in the way of speed, distance and forgiveness.

Who are they for?

LTDx — Is the more forgiving model, which will benefit players who need help keeping the ball airborne.

LTDx Max — Promotes a draw ball flight, made possible by a 10g weight located at the heel.

ST-X 220

More Performance. More Often.

Mizuno’s new ST-X 220 brings extra distance, slight draw bias and a high flight for the player looking for the modern low spinning driver. The exceptional stability on off-center strikes allows you to deliver your best more often. X-Axis design pushes weight deep in the heel for a higher draw-bias flight, with a slightly more rounded profile encouraging higher launch and medium spin performance.

A highly resilient forged titanium face features multi-thickness CORTECH for increased ball speeds and resistance to micro-fractures. A 20g weight is placed in the heel to create a deeper CG to give you longer, more efficient drives.

Who is it for?

Yes, this is for those who struggle with a slice, but the appearance of the ST-X 220 might surprise some and the smaller head shape opens its appeal to a broader audience.

G425 Max Driver & G425 SFT Driver

NEW: PING G425 Range

PING’s goal has been the same for years—to make a driver that allows you to hit more fairways, but doesn’t spin too much and limits distance. In that regard, PING G425 is significantly more forgiving— 14% more, in fact—its previous drivers, a huge step forward for the company. Its SFT driver is for those seeking to fix that slice, while its Max is its main offering.

Who is it for?

G425 Max Driver: Forgiving and adjustable—perfect for most golfers.

G425 SFT Driver: Fixing a slice? This is for you.

Srixon ZX5

FOCUS YOUR ENERGY: ZX WOODS | Srixon

Using a speed-enhancing tech called “Rebound Frame,” the ZX5 pushes energy from the swing through the face for increased speed. The ZX5 is also known for its high launch angle (a key to big drives) that leads to significant carry distances. A single weight in the sole adds forgiveness to the model.

Who is it for?

Srixon has made headway in the driver space thanks to British Open winner Shane Lowry and the addition of Brooks Koepka to its tour staff. The ZX5 is for the golfer looking for a higher ball flight that stays in the fairway.
