TaylorMade

Stealth+

The player’s driver of the lot, this is a readily adjustable driver that will appeal to better golfers. The face is 20% larger than the original SIM driver.

Is it for me?

The TaylorMade Stealth PLUS driver is for golfers who want maximum distance and forgiveness while also having more control over shot shaping and trajectory. A sliding weight tracks allows players to fine-tune their driver performance, a feature usually preferred by more experienced players who seek workability off the tee.

Callaway

Rogue ST Max LS

LS” stands for “low spin.” With a flatter flight and less spin, this driver offers workability.

Is it for me?

Do you want to cut and draw the ball? Do you find your ball spins too much off the tee, costing you distance? If so, this is the driver for you.

Rogue ST Max Triple Diamond

A tour-inspired head, this is a low spin driver for the better golfers.

Is it for me?

Do you tend to cut the ball, but want to limit spin and increase distance? Are you the kind of player who plays to a low handicap and wants to work shots off the tee? If that’s the case, you’ll want to check out the Triple Diamond, which will likely account for less than 10% of Callaway Rogue ST Max sales.

Cobra

LTDx LS

You have to spin to win? Not exactly when it comes to drivers. Top players will appreciate the LS (Low Spin) version of the LTDx. With 13 grams of weight positioned forward, LS helps players who overspin the ball keep it in play, while adding more distance for skilled golfers who keep their RPMs at a minimum. It’s also just a slightly smaller clubhead at 457cc.

Is it for me?

The LTDx LS is the lowest spinning driver designed for skilled players with fast swing speeds. Most of its weight is located low and forward for a lower, penetrating flight. A traditional shape and forward weighting allows for improved workability.

Mizuno

ST-G 220

Mizuno, with its new ST-G 220 driver, is hoping to satisfy the needs of a wide-range of golfers with just one driver design. To accomplish that, the company has three moveable weight tracks and two moveable weights in the sole of the driver. Thanks to the ultra-adjustable design, the ST-G 220 can produce low-spinning drives, high-launching drives, and draws or fades just by changing the layout of the weights.

Is it for me?

Mizuno’s drivers have increasingly won accolades in recent years. The ST-Z and ST-X won gold awards from Golf Digest’s hot list, only a year after gaining the first award from the magazine for a driver. The ST-G 220 just expands the appeal of the company’s drivers by making it easier to fit. Whether you’re a high-spin or low-spin driver of the ball, the ST-G 220 can be dialed to your preferences.

PING

LST

PING made the LST (low spin technology) driver with a pear-shaped head that’s 445cc, or 15cc smaller than the standard G425. In turn it delivers a reduction of 200 rpm of spin, and assuming you launch the ball correctly, that means more distance. The driver offers a reduction of 500 to 700 rpm in spin.

Is it for me?

If you’re someone who see RPM numbers in excess of 3,000 when you’re on a launch monitor, PING’s G425 LST is going to help keep your spin numbers down and increase your distances. It is a smaller clubhead, and that won’t be for everyone, but better players might gravitate to this model.

SRIXON

ZX7

The ZX7 driver delivers total control due to the moveable heel and toe sole weights. The four and eight gram weights can be switched for either a draw or fade bias giving any player their desired launch conditions. It also features a more rounded shape and a noticeably more penetrating ball flight and a muted sound.

Is it for me?

Made for better players who want distance, forgiveness and, most importantly, control off the tee. Produced low-launch, low-spin flights with balanced distance loss on off-center hits.
