New season, new PING driver for Brooke Henderson

Brooke is back—and this time she’s sporting some new gear.

Golf Town athlete Brooke Henderson made an appearance last week at the Diamond Resorts Invitational in Florida, holding her own against male Champions Tour players using a new driver—PING’s G400.

Brooke started testing the driver in December and made the change quickly, largely because of the benefits she found with the club.

“When I started working with the G400, I found the ball flight was more penetrating, and my distance off the tee increased,” Brooke said.

Henderson put a nine degree G400 driver in play with a 48-inch shaft, which is what the golfer has been using in recent years.

“I didn’t want to change drivers during the season, but I also know that PING only puts a new driver in my hands when they’ve made significant improvements,” Brooke added. “That’s exactly what PING did with G400 and I’ve been thrilled with what I’ve seen and experienced with the driver so far.”

Henderson also added G400 fairway woods, and a G400 hybrid to the mix, while continuing to play her i200 irons. Ping launched its G400 driver last summer, but Brooke tends not to change equipment during the season, and her playing schedule did not permit her to undergo product testing.

With improved aerodynamics and stability, the PING G400 is considered one of the most forgiving drivers in the game. By using multi-materials in the construction, the driver has less drag, and a thinner and stronger forged face that leads to increased speed and distance.

Brooke, who was recently named the Canadian Press’ female athlete of the year, will play the driver this week at the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic, which kicks off the 2018 LPGA Tour season.

  1. I was in Orlando and watched her hit many great drives in that DRI tourney. I bought my clubs 3 years ago at Golf Town. What’s the ‘ Brooke discount’ on the set of Pings including wedges 😉
