Jason Dufner signs equipment deal with Cobra Golf

Cobra Golf has made an exciting new addition to its Tour team, as five-time PGA Tour winner and major champion Jason Dufner has signed a multi-year partnership.

The 2013 PGA Championship winner will be on the course with Cobra clubs and rocking a Cobra bag beginning this week at the PGA Tour’s Mayakoba Golf Classic.

“I’ve been really happy with the equipment. It’s a great brand. It’s an iconic brand,” Dufner told Golf Town at a product announcement in West Palm Beach, Florida.

“Everything fit and made sense, so I’m looking forward to the next couple of years.” Dufner has been playing the King F9 Speedback driver for most of 2019 and has worked into Cobra irons and wedges as well. Cobra is on the cusp of an exciting new product release and Dufner is testing that gear currently.

“I started playing some of (Cobra’s) stuff earlier in the year. I did some research on how the fit was going to be and I took it into competition. I was really happy with it,” said Dufner.

Dufner joins other Cobra Tour team members Rickie Fowler and Bryson DeChambeau, along with LPGA Tour superstar Lexi Thompson.

“At Cobra our goal is to align with the best athletes and ambassadors who are not only talented golfers but are also engaging and authentic on and off the course,” said Dan Ladd, Executive Vice President, General Manager of Cobra Puma Golf.

“In addition to his unique personality, Dufner is known for his impressive ball-striking ability, as well as being one of the most sophisticated, technically-savvy pros out there when it comes to choosing what’s in his bag, and we’re honored that someone as discerning as he is, has chosen our equipment as he looks towards the next stage of an already impressive career.”

Dufner told Golf Town that he enjoys playing the F9 Speedback driver because he’s been able to take some loft off what he had been playing, but still get the launch and spin characteristics he’s after.

“That helps me with face angle. Tour players are real conscious of face angle and how the face looks at address I’ve picked up some speed and the off-centre hits are a little tighter,” he said.

Cobra’s Forged CB irons were attractive to Dufner because of how the sole is designed. “I like to drag the handle a lot, I have a lot of lean so it’s really important to me that I get in and out of the turf quick,” he said. Dufner is also friends with Fowler, and told Golf Town he and Fowler will be working together on some fun projects with Cobra over the next few years.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join the Cobra team. The success of Rickie and Bryson over the past few years with Cobra equipment certainly piqued my interest in the brand. When I tested their products, I was impressed by the improvement in my numbers across the board and by the look and feel of their equipment,” said Dufner.

“I had been testing a variety of products over the past year, and COBRA has proven to be the best for me. I am thrilled to have COBRA clubs in the bag and represent the COBRA brand.”
