Introducing new Scotty Cameron Phantom X putters

Redefining the modern mallet—that’s the goal of Scotty Cameron’s 2019 Phantom X line, with nine new putters developed around five head styles.

The Hook: The mallet has increasing become the go-to putter on the PGA Tour. Popular given its heightened MOI and forgiveness, the mallet is found in the hands of many of the best players in the world. Not shockingly, Scotty Cameron has continued pushing the technology to the next level with Phantom X replacing the Futura line of putters.

The Approach: Hitting Golf Town this April, Phantom X uses multi-material construction that combines 303 stainless steel and 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum to create a high MOI putter with great sound and feedback—exactly what you’d expect from a premium putter maker like Scotty Cameron.

“Phantom X is by far the most high-tech putter line we’ve designed to date,” says Cameron. “This product is so much faster looking, and taken to the next level, that it needed a new name. It’s a major leap in performance.”

Features & Benefits

New shapes

There are five head shapes in the line, all using multi-material heads. More company than Futura, Cameron describes the putters as “sleek,” with heads manufactured from steel and aluminum.

Tour setup

There are a number of alignment options, ranging from continuous lines from the leading edge all the way back to simple sight dots or raised or stepped down flanges. These features are a key part of the design, with racing lines, and highlighted milled sight dots.

Bend options

There are three bend options in the new putters—low, mid and straight.

Solid face

The Phantom X has a 6061 aluminum face in anodized black that extends through the back and offers a soft feel.

Grip

The Phantom X line debuts the Pistolero Plus grip, which is thicker with a less tapered low hand.

Who’s it for?

There are nine models in the line all suiting a different style player.

Phantom X 5

A wingback mallet with a single mid-bend shaft continues with a solid aluminum face anodized in black that extends back into the stepped down flange, and three milled topline sight dots in neon yellow.

Phantom X 5.5

Identical in shape to the Phantom X 5, the 5.5 has a lower shaft bend. Ideal for those players who create an arc in their swings, but are still seeking stability.

Phantom X 6

A face-balanced mallet with a single mid-bend shaft and two long neon yellow sight lines milled into the stepped down flange. Offers a high MOI with customized sole weighting.

Phantom X 6STR

Constructed with no offset, the straight-shafted 6STR produces face balanced performance with a clean appearance at address.

Phantom X 7

A single mid-bend-shafted, near-face balanced setup, Phantom X 7 has a heel-to-toe tapered aluminum face that is sculpted into a raised center flange. Also offered for left-handed players.

Phantom X 7.5

With a single low-bend shaft crafted to promote enhanced toe flow, the Phantom X 7.5 employs a raised center flange. Also available in a left-handed model.

Phantom X 8

Inspired by tour pros seeking a putter with simple visual cues and a continuous transition from leading edge through the back flange, the Phantom X 8 is a sleek, near-face balanced mallet with a single mid-bend shaft.

Phantom X 8.5

Differing from the Phantom X 8 only in shaft bend length and increased toe hang, the Phantom X 8.5 offers players a sculpted flange from the putter’s leading edge through the back flange. Great for players seeking to more easily align their putts.

Phantom X 12

A near-face balanced, high-MOI mallet with a single mid-bend shaft employs the continuous alignment features of the Phantom X line’s full leading-edge-to-flange construction.

      1. Still not in Golf Town Winnipeg. When will they be? Ordering online makes no sense if you can’t try them first.

        1. Hello! There was limited inventory with our first shipment from Titleist so this wasn’t available in all doors. I have checked with our merch team and both Winnipeg locations will have this in early June.
