adidas brought its lightweight Primeknit to its TOUR360 line last year with some fanfare. And why not? Primeknit was comfortable and lightweight and has been a huge hit in running and training shoes. The goal was comfort—and adidas delivered.
The new version of the shoe now comes with a waterproof upper meaning you can have the best of both worlds—lightweight and waterproof.
“We’re always working on creative ways to infuse both comfort and performance into a golf shoe,” said Masun Dension, adidas’ Global Footwear Director. “With the TOUR360 XT Primeknit, it checks all the boxes, giving players an extremely comfortable – and dry – wear throughout their round.
Initially there were some concerns about the stability of a shoe with an upper that is largely woven. Would it offer the support needed for golfers with higher swing speeds? To increase the stability of the upper, adidas incorporated “forging” technology that makes the midfoot more stable, but doesn’t add weight to the shoe. When the 360 wrap is integrated, golfers feel extremely stable, even when going hard at a shot. A full-length BOOST midsole makes the shoe comfortable on the firmest turf.
The outsole of the shoe, which adidas says is its best to date, offers an eight-cleat connection to the ground.
Who is it for?
If you loved TOUR360 XT, but wanted something a bit more lightweight and modern, the Primeknit version is for you. If you are an early-morning golfer who likes to walk and was worried about having wet feet halfway up the first fairway, the waterproof element of the TOUR360 XT with Primeknit will ensure you’re confident you’ll stay dry.
The TOUR360 XT Primeknit is available now in-stores and online.
