The bright pastels of spring are usually reserved for a bag of chocolate candy – of which it’s very easy to eat too many – but it’s not uncommon to see those same bright flowery colours to emerge on the fairways of a little course in Georgia, either.
The first men’s major of the year is the usual marker of springtime, and along with the always-thrilling golf tournament comes a release of some unique gear.
The best golfers in the world always make a statement at the first major on the PGA Tour’s schedule and this year is no different. Coming soon, we will have plenty of new gear available just in time for spring – and the most iconic tournament in golf.
adidas outfits past winners in Georgia Dustin Johnson and Sergio Garcia as well as young stars Joaquin Niemann and top-five player in the world Collin Morikawa, already a two-time major champion. At this year’s men’s season opener look for colours like pink and teal to be coupled with the usual khaki, grey, and navy duds from adidas.
You’ll see both Morikawa and Johnson rocking the Flag-Print Polo Shirt in some fun spring colours. This polo in particular has an all-over print – a remix on traditional golf style, adidas says – plus it boasts a breathable fabric (made from reimagined plastic waste!) with built-in stretch.
Jordan Spieth, another winner of the springtime tradition, will be wearing some very special Under Armour gear with splashes of green incorporated throughout. Don’t be surprised if there is plenty of navy included in Spieth’s wardrobe (that is, after all, what he wore that magical Sunday in 2015 when he won).
The Under Armour Playoff 2.0 polo has an updated ‘performance’ fit, boasts four-way stretch construction to help you move in every direction, plus the moisture wicking material is quick-drying and built for all-day comfort – even if you don’t have a to hit a shot in front of thousands of people late on Sunday.
Another golfer who many think will break through in Georgia is Jon Rahm, who was just recently knocked off his perch as the No.1 golfer in the world. Rahm rocks Travis Mathew gear, and you’ll see plenty of special April editions of some of its best sellers like the Off The Record polo. This pocketed polo is also made from more than 60 percent recycled materials but also 30 percent cozy pima cotton.
Even though you may not be walking the fairways of the most well-known course on the planet, Golf Town has all the gear you need to look like you belong out there.
