School’s out for Canadian kids—and golf is now on the curriculum

As July nears, Canada’s kids will be hitting the links with some regularity. Make golf fun by ensuring they have the right equipment to get the most from their games.

In a few weeks, school will be out, well not forever, as the Alice Cooper song once suggested, but at least for two months. That means kids will be hitting the course, whether they are just starting with summer camps, or heading out with friends for nine or 18. Regardless, they are going to need to have the proper gear—just as they would should they be playing soccer or baseball.

Not that long ago, junior golfers would simply get a cut-down set of adult clubs, with shafts that were too stiff and didn’t suit their swings. That’s not the case now—at Golf Town you can outfit your child with clubs, balls, shoes, apparel and even training equipment that will help them get the most enjoyment they can out of a game for a lifetime.

Here’s some of our top products for the kiddos starting out in the game:

Package Sets

Unlike adult sets, most clubs aimed at junior male and female players come with a complete package. That means you’ll get the full set—from wedges to woods—to ensure your son or daughter is set up with everything they need to get involved with the game. With sets like TaylorMade’s Junior Rory six or eight-piece set offering age-specific clubs (there are also sets from other major manufacturers, including Wilson, Cobra and Epec), your son or daughter will have clubs that will allow them to play well and have fun on the course.

Cool kicks

Golf shoes are sharp, vibrant, athletic and aimed at your kids. With golf shoes often looking more like the runners kids wear to school each day, brands like Nike, adidas, and Puma offer comfortable footwear for the course that treat golf like the sport it is.

Clothing

Whether they want to channel their inner Rickie Fowler or Lexi Thompson, we’ve got plenty of bright colours and stylish apparel to make them feel comfortable on the course.

Balls and accessories

Sure your child could play a white ball, but why be so traditional with so many options on the market. Most major manufacturers offer an alternative—vibrant yellow, red or green—while Volvik sells a golf ball with Marvel characters on it. If you child was a big Endgame fan, then they’ll want these balls in their bag.

They’ll also want a golf glove specifically for their size of hand. Ensure you get a glove for the top hand of their grip, like this one FootJoy.

As for the ability to work on your game at home, we offer a variety of chipping nets (as well as training balls that won’t go through your kitchen window!) that allow your child to work on their short game in your backyard.
