Lisa Longball Golf Town Ladies Clinic

Celebrating International Women’s Day 2023

Over the past few years, golf has become increasingly popular by leaps and bounds with one group in particular – women.

Whether it be through the inspirational stories of the best in the world – including Golf Town Ambassadors Brooke and Brittany Henderson – the breaking down of barriers for women to join whomever they choose on the links, or the all-in excitement of a sport that allows for great friends to get together for mental and physical health benefits, we at Golf Town are so thrilled to celebrate women’s golf and women in golf on this International Women’s Day!

As you’ve likely seen on social media, Golf Town continues to offer free clinics hosted by one of Canada’s top female golf personalities, Lisa ‘Longball’ Vlooswyk. Lisa’s infectious energy has helped so many women with their games. And even when golfers couldn’t gather together, Lisa’s virtual clinics were watched by thousands of people on social media.

“I am incredibly proud to be a Golf Town Brand Ambassador – Golf Town strongly believes in Women’s golf! Their first sponsored athlete was Brooke Henderson. While they could have sponsored any PGA Tour player, they chose Brooke. That speaks volumes as to what their values are. That’s what drew me to Golf Town,” says Lisa.

“I conducted a clinic for their annual Women’s Day event at my local Golf Town in Calgary, as they were always so positive and supportive of what I was doing. The clinic was so successful that Golf Town wanted women across Canada to experience it. I am now working my way across Canada to all 47 stores!”

“Seeing the joy and excitement from ladies from coast to coast at my clinics makes my heart swell, and it came to fruition all because of Golf Town.”

With golf continuing to grow in popularity, Lisa says she is excited to see the number of women who are taking up the sport for the first time or returning to play after taking years off to raise a family. She says she’s seeing more women at driving ranges, corporate golf tournaments, or even girls’ golf trips. She points to how the sport is low-impact, extremely social, and playout outdoors in the fresh air. It’s a great way, she explains, to connect with friends, family, colleagues, and customers.

Lisa recommends getting professional instruction if you’re just starting out. Otherwise, grab a few friends and make it a fun experience!

“Group lessons can be so much fun and less intimidating as a newcomer. Also, make sure to get fit for your equipment. Having equipment that fits your game will make golf so much more enjoyable,” says Lisa.

So on this International Women’s Day, we commend all those women like Brooke and Lisa who are leading the day, all those women who are teeing it up more often, and all those women who decide that golf is the game for them!

Be sure to keep your eye out on our social media pages for when Lisa comes to a town near you, or when we will host our next in-store Ladies Night, where you can get some awesome deals on gear and meet some new golfing friends, too.

Here’s to seeing even more women on the course soon!

  1. I love Golf and Golftown, but I am very disappointed in the apparel available for plus size women. It is actually a detriment to women golfing….not being able to access golf clothing…I would encourage Golftown to try to have more plus sizes available…some companies don’t even make much golf clothing for girls or plus size women. Underarmour for example….Golftown has done a great job supporting women in golf…especially with Lisa Longball…but PLEASE, try to improve sizes available.
