2022 Toronto Players Tour: What To Expect

That was fun! Let’s do it again.

After handing out the inaugural Golf Town Cup in October, the Toronto Players Tour is back for an even better season in 2022.

The Race to the Golf Town Cup tees off in May at Wolf Run near Port Perry and then winds its way throughout Ontario before culminating in late September with the season-ending Tour Championship in Niagara Falls. Thirteen events in total to test the mettle of some of the best golfers in the country. On the line: prize money, bragging rights and a chance to hoist the hardware at the end of the season.

After becoming the first player to lift the Golf Town Cup as last season’s points leader, champion Brendan Leonard is enjoying the spoils of his hard work – exempt status on the PGA Tour Canada for this season – but he’ll be back to play a limited schedule of a half dozen events on the TPT.

“We’re looking forward to him really taking his game to the next level this season on PGA Tour Canada. We’re really excited to see what he can do not only at our events but at the next level.” – Russell Budd, TPT Tournament Director

With the champ playing a condensed schedule, there’s no shortage of competition for this years’ hardware. Chris Wilson and Austin Ryan who finished second and third on last year’s Order of Merit and are itching to join Leonard and have their name engraved on the Golf Town Cup and take their name to the next level.

But it’s not just the best of the best out there. The beauty of this tour is that anyone can compete. Male, female, juniors and senior golfers. All are welcome on the TPT.

“We really pride ourselves on making everyone feel welcome. What Player “A” and Player “B” get out of the experience could be completely different. We don’t shy away from that. We embrace it. For a mid to high handicapper to go out and compete with some of the best pros in the country, you’re not going to get that anywhere else.” – Russell Budd, TPT Tournament Director

So, do feel like measuring your game against some of the best young golfers in the country? If you’d like to see how your game stacks up, just go to https://www.torontoplayerstour.com/ for membership, entry fee and schedule information.

There’s even a rumour that a certain former broadcaster-turned-Golf Town Brand Ambassador will tee it up at an event early in the season.

Now, THAT will be fun.
