PLAYERS TO WATCH AT THE 2025 CPKC WOMEN’S OPEN

An incredible field is set to tee it up at one of Canada’s most iconic venues, as the CPKC Women’s Open returns to the Greater Toronto Area for just the third time since 2001!

The list of player commitments for the CPKC Women’s Open at the Mississaugua Golf and Country Club features six of the current top 10 in the world and 19 of the top 25, including world No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul.

Three-time CPKC Women’s Open champion and 2024 Olympic Gold medalist Lydia Ko (a winner already this year and ranked No. 3 in the world), along with No. 4 Minjee Lee (the winner of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and Rolex ANNIKA Major Award winner are in the field. Haeran Ryu, world No. 9, returns to action in Canada after a tremendous result last year in Calgary, while Lottie Woad – who had an incredible summertime stretch as an amateur before winning her first event as a professional at the Women’s Scottish Open – is also teeing it up.

The 156-player field will be competing at Mississaugua Golf and Country Club for the first time in tournament history, while the club will become the eighth to host Golf Canada’s four premier events: CPKC Women’s Open, RBC Canadian Open, Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship and the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship.

The field will be competing for the $2.75 million USD purse with the champion taking home $412,500. Lauren Coughlin is set to defend her title after breaking through for her first-ever LPGA Tour title in 2024 in Calgary.

“We are very excited to begin play next week with a world class field of talent at the historic Mississaugua Golf and Country Club for one of Canada’s signature women’s sporting events,” said Claire Welsh, Tournament Director, CPKC Women’s Open. “Led by Brooke Henderson and many of the top ranked players in the world, golf fans across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area are in for a special championship that will leave a major charitable impact in our host community.”

The CPKC Women’s Open field will also include 18 in-year winners and four of the five in-year major championship winners. Interestingly enough, the LPGA Tour has not yet had a repeat winner in 2025 – 20 tournaments, 20 winners.

Henderson, who broke a 45-year Canadian drought at the CPKC Women’s Open when she won in 2018, leads a 13-player Canadian contingent. That group includes Mississauga’s own Savannah Grewal and veteran Alena Sharp, who is set to play in her 20th CPKC Women’s Open. Sharp will also be inducted into the Ontario Golf Hall of Fame during tournament week.

There are plenty of Canadian up-and-comers teeing it up including 15-year-old Aphrodite Deng, who has won multiple junior events over the last 18 months including becoming the first Canadian to ever win the U.S. Junior Girls Championship earlier this summer. Tillie Claggett, who is a senior at Vanderbilt University, earned her way into the field after winning the PGA of Canada Women’s Championship in July.

In addition to an impressive Canadian amateur crew, New Jersey’s Megha Ganne has accepted an invitation to play the CPKC Women’s Open after she captured the U.S. Women’s Amateur in impressive fashion in early August.

Whether it’s veterans, superstars, or stars-in-waiting, the CPKC Women’s Open field is set to be one of the best of the season.
