Welcome back to another year of On the Bag with Brittany! We’re thrilled to give you an inside look on how Brittany and Brooke Henderson travel the world, prepare for the biggest events on the LPGA Tour, and more.
This marks the final catch-up with Brittany prior to the holiday season and the start of the 2025 LPGA Tour campaign.
We’ll be back again in the new year!
It was certainly a busy 2024, but one worth celebrating as Brittany and Brooke Henderson head into the holiday season.
With Brooke and Corey Conners finishing fourth at the Grant Thornton Invitational after a sizzling Sunday finale – where they went 7-under for their final nine holes to shoot a 10-under 62, tied for the low round of the day – another year is in the books for the Henderson sisters.
Although Brooke did not find the winner’s circle this year on the LPGA Tour, it was a tremendously consistent campaign, and that’s something Brittany says they will be looking to build off of in 2025.
“It maybe wasn’t as flashy, but we had so many good finishes overall. We had nine top 10s in 24 events – so that’s 38 percent of the time finishing in the top 10! That’s a goal, to always be up there in the top 10 every week,” Brittany says. “Obviously you want to try to win every week, but a top 10 you know is a good week.
“Last year felt like a great year because we had a win. And this year feels like a great year because, overall, it was more consistent. Thirty-eight percent of the time we were in the top 10, that’s exactly what we’re trying to do out there!”
The final stretch of the LPGA Tour season saw Brittany and Brooke head back over to Asia – and tee it up at the TOTO Japan Classic for the first time in about five years – along with another special trip to Hawaii en route back to the U.S. for the LPGA Tour’s season finale, where Brooke finished tied for eighth.
While in Asia, Brittany says the sisters were able to enjoy some fun dinners out with their friends on the LPGA Tour. In Korea, Lydia Ko invited almost 50 people to a traditional Korean barbecue restaurant, where Ko treated everyone to a wonderful meal after her incredible summertime run on the course.
“It’s really nice of those players to welcome you in and treat. She bought out the restaurant, basically! It was fun to be part of that,” Brittany says. “We love Lydia, so it was super fun.”
The same thing happened in Japan, as Hinako Shibuno took some players out in Japan for sushi. Again, it was a traditional dining experience, Brittany says – including taking your shoes off in a particular section of the restaurant. Brittany says the menu was primarily sushi, but there were also noodle dishes and she tried a few things she’s never had before – including lotus root (“People said you had to eat it. It didn’t taste like much but apparently, it’s so good for you”) and sesame leaf (“It was pretty good!”).
The trip to Asia started a little rough for Brittany, she says, as her flight out of southwest Florida was impacted by the after-effects of Hurricane Milton. Due to some travelling snafus, Brittany ended up flying to Korea by herself and Brooke flew by herself on a different flight from a different city.
“It’s a long journey to do by yourself! But it worked out OK,” Brittany says. “You have to do everything you can to get adjusted right away. We’ve found the best time to fly and get there and not stay up too late and get our week started.”
After the Asia swing, Brooke and Brittany headed off to one of their favorite places to visit – Hawaii. In her pre-tournament press conference, Brooke made mention that the sisters try to swim in the ocean as much as they can before getting down to business on the course, but Brittany might love swimming a little too much and Brooke said, with a laugh, she gets worried if she can’t see Brittany out there floating.
“I love it. And I float pretty well. And I’m out there a pretty good distance from shore and it does make her nervous. I’m loving life out there and she always gets worried about me,” Brittany admits with a laugh.
The final exciting event of the year for the pair, prior to a fun holiday season with family, is the annual content and commercial shoot with TaylorMade. All of TaylorMade’s big athletes are together in one place over two days, including Tiger Woods.
“To get all those athletes together and to generate as much content and everything they need for the entire year in basically an entire day – it’s pretty incredible,” Brittany says. “It’s just amazing, there. As someone who grew up loving golf and seeing your idols of the game there, it’s pretty neat.”
So, then, ends another year seeing the world and experiencing all that life has to offer for both Brittany and Brooke. Between the Olympics, new restaurants, swimming in the ocean, and, yes, even seeing Taylor Swift in concert, it was a special 2024.
Here’s to a wonderful 2025!
