During July’s The Match, “Rang Battles” pre-shows were done to engage the fans but this time around will be focused on a “press conference” of questions from fans and special guests.

This will be the first time in Capital One’s The Match history Phil Mickelson won’t be playing in it. “Lefty” has played in the first four matches. He last teamed up with Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady to go up against Bryson DeChambeau and Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. This time around, Mickelson will be in the booth, making his official announcing debut alongside play-by-play man Brian Anderson and Charles Barkley.

Mickelson and Barkley teamed up to defeat NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning and Warriors guard Stephen Curry on Nov. 27, 2020.

More than two years since their feud started in January 2019, DeChambeau and Koepka, both major winners, put aside their long-standing rivalry to help the United States historic 19-9 Ryder Cup victory against Europe. Both players hugged twice during the celebration.

DeChambeau hinted at “something fun coming up here” during his news conference at the Ryder Cup. Koepka was asked about it two days later at his news conference and said: “I have no idea. I didn’t listen to the comment or hear what he said.”

This will be Koepka first time participating Capital One’s The Match, while DeChambeau, has won The Match before, teaming up with NFL star Aaron Rodgers to defeat seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady and six-time major winner Phil Mickelson in July.
