Golf Town Athlete Brooke Henderson has made history!
The Canadian captured the Amundi Evian Championship for her second career major championship title thanks to a birdie on her final hole of the championship.

Brooke’s even-par 71 was just enough, as she topped LPGA Tour rookie Sophia Schubert by one shot. Schubert had a chance to make a birdie of her own on the par-5 18th, but it slid just by.
Five golfers finished tied for third at 15 under including Japan’s Mao Saigo, whose 7-under 64 was tied for the low round of the day.
World No.1 Jin Young Ko was in the group two shots back, at 13 under, and tied for 8th.
With the win, Brooke becomes the first Canadian in history to win multiple major championships. She also won for the 12th time on the LPGA Tour – adding to her record win total.
This marked Brooke’s first major championship victory since 2016 when she won the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.
Brooke had the lead through three rounds but struggled on her front nine. She righted the ship on the back nine, however, despite some late-Sunday drama. At one point there was a six-way tie for the lead!
Brooke made birdies on No’s 14 and 15 before adding one more on the 18th hole from about 12 feet away.
The final hole was a bit of adventure for Brooke, as she hit her drive on the closing hole off a tree and into the rough.
“It was definitely an interesting day,” admitted Brooke. “Not the start that I wanted, but I stayed pretty patient, as patient as I could under those circumstances. Then going into the back nine, you know, the saying is that majors are won on the back nine on Sunday, so I just tried to keep that frame of mind, and knew I was still in it if I could have a solid back.
“I was able to make a few birdies, which was nice, and obviously to make the birdie on 18, that makes it feel really nice.”
Although Brooke didn’t have her best at times on Sunday, she was still able to take this major championship across the finish line. All of the great champions of this game have been able to do just that, and she was thrilled to be able to lift another big trophy on the LPGA Tour!
“Definitely not the best today, but… just tried to stay patient and kept reminding myself that I was still in it and that I just needed some birdies and a little bit of momentum change to stay in it,” said Brooke. “I made some clutch putts and shots down the stretch, which really helped.
“I’m just super excited to have my second major championship win. Twelve wins on the LPGA Tour is pretty cool, too. Really excited for what the rest of the season holds.”
The LPGA Tour’s final major championship of the season, the AIG Women’s Open, goes from Aug. 4-7.
From all of us at Golf Town and the #BrookeBrigaide, congratulations Brooke on a great major win!
