The Golf Town Athlete captured the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions after a 2-under 70 on Sunday gave her a four-shot victory over Maja Stark and Charley Hull.

She finished at 16 under for the week.

“It’s super exciting. Coming into this week I couldn’t have asked for anything more. It was kind of the dream start, which is really exciting looking forward to the rest of 2023,” said Brooke.

“I love this championship. It’s so unique and fun to play alongside the celebrities and amateurs and a really cool atmosphere. Always really wanted to win this one, so happy I finally got it.”

This was Brooke’s third wire-to-wire victory in her career (along with the 2016 Portland Classic and the 2019 Meijer LPGA Classic) and the 13th LPGA Tour title – a record for Canadians that Brooke keeps pushing higher!

Brooke’s win at the LPGA Tour season-opener was especially meaningful. You may recall she was forced to withdraw from the second-to-last LPGA Tour event of the 2022 campaign and worked with a “manufactured” swing for the CME Group Tour Championship as she battled an upper-back injury. She got back to work as soon as possible in the off-season to rehab and recover.

New year, new gear

Not only was this her first event back feeling fully recovered (she said earlier in the week that the first round at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club was the first time she had been swinging at 100 percent since October!) but this was also the first event since she began playing 14 TaylorMade clubs.

Needless to say, the switch has, so far, worked out just fine.

Brooke was bombing it with the Stealth 2 Plus driver this week and was feeling dialled in with her P-790 irons. Her putting on the slick Lake Nona greens was also top-notch.

Brooke fired a tournament-low 66 Friday after opening with a 67 and never let her foot off the gas.

“I think all parts of the game were working really well this week, which that doesn’t always happen, so it was really nice to benefit from that and be able to hoist this trophy,” said Brooke. “Off the tee today maybe the drive wasn’t as good as the rest of the week, but it was still very consistent. Ball-striking I gave myself a lot of good birdie looks, and especially the first three days made a lot of putts.

“Really can’t complain about anything. I’m really happy I made the switch to TaylorMade, and hopefully the success just continues.”

She birdied both of the par-5s on the front nine and added another birdie on the par-5 15th. While there were plenty of notable chasers in the final round, they all ran out of holes as Brooke’s lead became insurmountable.

Nelly Korda, who played with Brooke in the final round, couldn’t get anything going and finished at even par, while Nasa Hataoka, who was also in the final pairing, struggled to a 2-over 74.

Brooke is now looking forward to the rest of the season and hopefully finding the winners’ circle more and more!

“I feel like I found a lot of success out here and it’s been really exciting. Sometimes I have to pinch myself because it still feels like a dream to be able to play against the best in the world and to have a world ranking inside the top 10 so consistently and 13 victories,” said Brooke. “A lot of things have gone really well. I’m always trying to get a little bit better and chase bigger goals. Hopefully more victories are to come.”

What a great start to 2023!

  2. I saw all 4 rounds..love Watching her play She never quits So proud of her With any luck With the putter In the 2nd round probably could have 4 Or5 more birdies she mustof paintedd the corners many times. In the 3rd round After missing 2 putts from 3/4 Feet for birdie on the 13th and 14th she came back with such a beautiful birdie on 15th I believe she will be fighting for number one this year And we must also thank her sister what a caddy to keep her in the moment with the right words and info..WHAT A TEAM! Wishing you both best for the rest of the year
