Q&A With Golf Town Athlete Brooke Henderson

2022 was a great year for Golf Town Ambassador Brooke Henderson!

We were so thrilled to be able to cheer on Brooke at the CP Women’s Open in its return in 2022 to the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club. Plus, with Brooke winning twice on the LPGA Tour, she further cemented herself as one of the game’s biggest stars.

Brooke enters the 2023 campaign ranked seventh in the world, and we caught up with her for a quick Question-and-Answer session before her year gets started!

Golf Town: You became the only Canadian in history – male or female – to win more than one major in 2022, how much of an honour was that?

Brooke Henderson: It really is a tremendous honour. Knowing how many great players are a part of Canadian golf history, to be the first to win a second major is incredible.

Given the level of competition on the LPGA Tour these days, how impressed at yourself were you to not only win once, but twice?

The level of talent on the LPGA is really high. There are so many players that have a chance to win each week. To be holding a trophy more than once in any season is a great feeling. Hopefully that trend will continue!

What was your favourite part of the CP Women’s Open return?

Seeing the fans for the first time in a few years was awesome! CP was also able to raise $2.5-million for CHEO through CP Has Heart – it was quite a week!

Are you hoping to visit any new spots while on the road in 2023 and if yes, where?

Playing out at Pebble Beach will be special for the U.S. Open. Really looking forward to that one given all of the history at that golf course!

What gets you excited about beginning a new golf year?

I like the opportunity and challenge to get back out there and see if we can get that much better on the course. A new year brings with it new goals. Setting out to achieve those goals and trust the process has been an important key for me over my career.

What was the off-course highlight from 2022?

Meeting Reba was really special and definitely a highlight of the off season! She is somebody that I have looked up to for a long time so finally meeting her in person was an incredible experience!

What was the best thing you ate in 2022?

I think it would have to be crepes in Evian-Les-Bains! I had a few of those the week of the major win!

How excited are you to see the Brooke Brigade in Vancouver?

It’s always great to see the Brooke Brigade! No matter where I am competing, the fans are always there to support me and give me that extra energy to compete. I’m really looking forward to getting out to Vancouver with those fans.
