Claiming she felt “mentally exhausted” after battling the wind at the LPGA Tour’s season-opening Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic, Brooke Henderson couldn’t hold off a surging Brittany Lincicome.
“You look at the weather and see what it is going to do,” Henderson said at the end of the second round. “Just kind of see what happens.”
The tournament, held in the Caribbean, was cut to three rounds after high winds halted play on Friday. Henderson held a one-shot lead heading into the final round, but Lincicome shot 6-under par in the final round to vault to the top of the leaderboard.
Still, Henderson, a Golf Town athlete, managed a 1-under on the final round to finish in ninth-place for the event.
