This year at Earl Grey Golf Club in Calgary, she can’t wait to put on a show for the Brooke Brigade once again!

“That week is beyond special. I feel like growing up a little girl playing on the LPGA Tour you wanted to play in front of fans like that and you wanted to feel that support and have a whole country behind you and that’s exactly what happens at the CPKC Women’s Open,” Brooke said.

“I always love competing at the CPKC Women’s Open and feel that love and support from the crowd – it’s always so special.”

Brooke won the CPKC Women’s Open in 2018, breaking a 45-year drought at the women’s national open. She was also in the final group on Sunday the following year, falling just short to eventual winner Jin Young Ko.

She had an up-and-down finish a year ago, shooting rounds of 75 on both Thursday and Saturday, but rounds of 68 on both Friday and Sunday.

Brooke finished tied for 13th at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club, seven back of Ko and eventual winner Megan Khang, who won in a playoff.

“Hopefully this year I can play a little bit better and put on a good show for everybody and get off to a fast start. It’s always the main goal, to get off to a fast start and see what happens on the weekend,” Brooke said. “Winning back in 2018 was a huge highlight of my career and I would love to do it again!”

The CPKC Women’s Open is part of one of the busiest stretches of golf – if not the busiest – for Brooke. She just completed the Amundi Evian Championship and will tee it up in Canada before one more major championship on the LPGA Tour plus, of course, the Olympics. The Paris Games will mark the third time Brooke has represented Canada at the Olympics. She’s one of 15 women to have played in all three Olympic competitions since golf returned in 2016.

“It’s going to be a very busy summer. Very busy, but very exciting,” Brooke said from the CPKC Women’s Open media day in June. “When I set out my schedule for this year, pretty much the rest of the summer is all circled of weeks I want to peak for.”

The CPKC Women’s Open has been named Tournament of the Year at the LPGA Tour’s year-end awards the last two seasons. That’s a big part due to Brooke’s influence. The Brooke Brigade is always out in full force, cheering Brooke on and making their impact felt.

And as a former winner of the event, she can’t wait to try to do it all over again in Calgary.

“It was a huge highlight of my career (winning the CPKC Women’s Open in 2018). In a way, it changed my life,” Brooke said. “This event has always meant so much to me.”

There will be at least 10 Canadians teeing it up at Earl Grey alongside Brooke, including her fellow Olympian Alena Sharp, along with LPGA Tour regulars Savannah Grewal and Maude-Aimee Leblanc.
