50-41 of SCOREGolf‘s Top 59 Canadian Public Golf Courses
50. Wolf Creek- Links

Ponoka, Alta.
Rod Whitman, 1996/2010
SG Rating: 7.3930
2023 Rank: 41
The Links Course at Wolf Creek in Ponoka, Alberta, combines two nines built by hometown architect Rod Whitman a decade apart. The newer nine is where Whitman’s trademark blowout bunkers and cool greens really shine. It’s a place that lets the ground do the talking, as a golf course should.
49. King’s Forest

Hamilton, Ont.
Matt Broman, 1973
SG Rating: 7.4055
2023 Rank: NR
At the base of the Niagara Escarpment, King’s Forest is a busy municipal course that continues to stand up with holes that both plummet off tees and climb winding fairways. A Hamilton, Ontario, course that dates back to 1973, it reappears on our Top 59 this year at No. 49.
48. Tower Ranch

Kelowna, B.C.
Thomas McBroom, 2008
SG Rating: 7.4207
2023 Rank: 36
It’s bombs away at Thomas McBroom’s Tower Ranch, a course that places golfers well above fairways for many of its tee shots. Built on benchland overlooking Kelowna, Tower Ranch is definitely pretty on the eyes and is a fun place to watch your ball soar through the sky.
47. Fairmont Chateau Whistler

Whistler, B.C.
Robert Trent Jones, Jr., 1993
SG Rating: 7.4446
2023 Rank: 54
The Coast Mountain Range provides a stunning backdrop for the golf course at the spectacular Fairmont Chateau Whistler. The Robert Trent Jones Junior design is marked by massive elevation changes, creeks, tall Douglas firs and rocky outcroppings.
46. The Links at Brunello

Halifax, N.S.
Thomas McBroom, 2015
SG Rating: 7.4447
2023 Rank: 52
The Links at Brunello near Halifax is a sturdy Thomas McBroom design that requires a very strong tee game to survive. Several of its holes feature elevated tee decks and are beautified by the architect’s trademark exposed-rock look.
45. Chateau Bromont

Bromont, Que.
Howard Watson, 1964 (Graham Cooke)
SG Rating: 7.4463
2023 Rank: 45
The golf course at the Chateau Bromont resort offers plenty of challenge on a great piece of property at the base of Mont Brome. Recent upgrades have continued to up its quality and it has become a staple on the PGA Tour Americas schedule as a place the players love.
44. Eagle Ranch

Invermere, B.C.
Bill Robinson, 2000
SG Rating: 7.4465
2023 Rank: 31
Eagle Ranch has the good fortune of having the Columbia River, Lake Windermere and the Rocky and Purcell mountain ranges as backdrops to many holes on a fun course perched on an ancient bluff. It sits 44th on this year’s Top 59.
43. The Nest at Friday Harbour

Innisfil, Ont.
Doug Carrick, 2018
SG Rating: 7.4574
2023 Rank: 37
Doug Carrick and crew moved a lot of dirt to turn a flat parcel of land into a collection of holes with plenty of movement at The Nest at Friday Harbour. Width off the tee is countered by tricky green surrounds with short-grass collection areas that make a soft touch vital to score well.
42. Lakeview

Mississauga, Ont.
Herbert Strong, 1907 (Cam Tyers)
SG Rating: 7.4626
2023 Rank: 51
Surrounded by many of the best private clubs in Canada, Lakeview, a municipal course that’s more than 100 years old, may have the best collection of greens of any of them. Small and wickedly sloped in places, they are the primary defence at the shortish track. Recent restorative work and tree removal has taken Lakeview to another level.
41. Silvertip

Canmore, Alta.
Les Furber, 1998
SG Rating: 7.4754
2023 Rank: 43
Silvertip can definitely stake a claim to being the most beautiful course in Canada, with the Three Sisters Mountain Peaks towering high above you as you play. The Les Furber design in the Alberta Rockies has softened over the years but it still requires you to hit the proper targets and take your medicine at times.
