PING’s new i530 irons are an attractive offering for better golfers that are looking for a smaller blade size, but still capturing distance and height for stopping power.
“The i530 launches higher—maybe as much as a club longer—and still offers that great look that better golfers demand,” says Adam Vickerman, who leads PING’s fitting program in Canada.
That’s the goal of better players—launch the ball higher and longer with a clean look. And that’s exactly what the PING i530 offers.
Key Technologies
Forged
The forged face of the i530 irons is attached to a 17-4 stainless steel hollow body. Those who like a blade look will really appreciate the thin top line, narrow sole, and shallow face height. The irons have a premium look, which PING credits to a new machining technique that thins the back wall of the hollow-body design, saving weight to help with forgiveness and tighten dispersion. MicroMax grooves ensure consistent launch and spin and offers three yards of extra distance over the previous i525 irons.
Distance
PING engineers worked hard to make the i530 longer than previous generations, and distance gains come in a number of incremental ways. An internal weight pad provides a deeper and thinner face-to-sole transition, which in turn ensures more face flexing. That pushes mass down to lower the center of gravity for more ball speed.
Improved Feel And Sound
The previous generation of PING’s hollow body design, the i525, were not always noted for their sound and feel. That’s changed in the i530 irons, which offer a better sound, and, in turn, a softer feel. PING says its polymer improves the sound and feel.
Lofts
PING offers the i530 in standard, power, and retro lofts for appropriate gapping.
