Our goal through Custom Fittings is to help you crush more drives and hit more fairways. Today’s drivers come with detailed booklets explaining the numerous settings for sliders, adjustable hosels, and movable weights. While fine tuning is now possible, it can be quite a challenge. With hundreds of combinations available, it is no wonder that most golfers are just grabbing drivers off the shelf and not making the adjustments to tap into their full potential. Remember, it’s a lot easier to make adjustments to your driver based on the characteristics of your swing than it is to make adjustments to your swing itself. That’s where custom fitting comes into play!
What You Can Expect From a Driver Fitting at Golf Town
Technology Matters
With fitting tools from all major vendors, we carry the best selection of drivers in Canada that can be adjusted for your swing. All Golf Town Master Club Fitters are required to complete annual training and fitting certification with our major vendor partners, making them ready to help you find the perfect driver.
During the fitting process, we use Foresight Sports GCQuad/GC Hawk launch monitors, with high-resolution cameras that capture up to 10,000 frames per second, to gather the information required to fit your driver. We can get accurate results and measurements of ball characteristics at club impact, the most critical measurement for club fitting.
Find the Right Shaft
With hundreds of shafts to choose from that vary in weight, length and flex, how do you know which is right for you? That’s where the information from GCQuad/GC Hawk comes into play. Our Master Club Fitters will use the data gathered, such as swing speed, launch angle, spin rate and shot shape to determine which type of shaft you should be using for your swing.
Loft
What loft is your current driver? Just because you’ve always used a 9 degree driver, doesn’t mean that it’s the right loft for you in all models. The technology in each head varies by brand and model, giving each driver its own unique characteristics that will affect the playability.
Fade and Draw
Tired of hooking it off the tee? Even the smallest adjustments can reduce your tendency to slice or hook the ball and increase the number of fairways you’ll hit. Another factor that could be causing you to lose control could be grip size. An oversized grip has a tendency to leave the face open, causing a fade. A smaller grip would increase your hand action, causing the ball to hook more, so this is definitely another area we’d want to look at during your fitting.
The right fitting can help not only reduce spin—one of the keys to adding distance in a driver—but also help you find the right mix of distance and accuracy. Visit a Golf Town near you to book an appointment with one of our Master Club Fitters today.
I bought a callaway Big Bertha driver from your Winnipeg store on Empress about a year ago. I have to say, the salesman at the time offered no fitting of the club, no explanation of the torque wrench and even gave me a Teitelist wrench with the driver. When I went to the cashier, he noticed the incorrect wrench and got me the proper one. They are more interested in making a sale than making sure you get the proper service. I have not been back since.
I have been into the Richmond Golf town THREE times now. I Goa round and pick a driver out of the rack and give it the test swing, waggle bit that we all do as I am in the market for a new driver. Everytime I am in the store it is for a minimum of 20 minutes. To date, not ONCE, has any staff member come upon to me and said Hi can I help you..or Hey, it looks like you are in the market for a driver…they haven’t said ANYTHING…forget about custom fitting.. I might have to stick a Roman candle up my backside and light it before going into the store to get some attention…I have never tried so hard to spend hundreds of dollars and failed so miserably. I feel your pain sir.
Hi Phil, Thank you for bringing to our attention. Not the Customer Service standards we expect from our staff. I have sent this to the store General Manager and they will be in touch.
Hi Phil, Our store has tried to get in touch with you a couple of times via email but have not heard back. Can you confirm if you have received the emails?
Looking forward to a fitting and a new Ping driver next spring.
(We live in Whistler)
In the meantime, as I’m golfing in Santa Barbara, I’d like to represent my BC connection with the truvis maple leaf Callaway balls. Be happy to pay $39.00 like all the other truvis but am chagrined by the $59.00 price.
