Every two years, Titleist unveils a new version of its flagship Pro V1. In between, the company provides an upgrade to the other key balls in its line—the lower flying and lower spinning AVX, TruFeel and Tour Soft, which offer distance and spin.
AVX
Titleist reworked the AVX significantly to increase distance, while offering more spin and control, and making the ball softer.
Key Tech
New Core
This year’s AVX offers a high gradient high-speed core that is longer, while still offering a soft feel. In fact, this is the same core offered in the Pro V1 and Pro V1x, which helps limit spin off the driver, without sacrificing spin on chips around the green.
Cover And Casing
A thin high-flex casing layer covers the core to reduce spin off the driver, while a new softer urethane cover increases spin on shorter clubs. It is the connection between the core, casing layer and cover that allows Titleist engineers to find the middle ground where drives are long, but chips have holding power.
Better Aerodynamics
With a new 346 quad dipyramid catenary dimple design, the AVX cuts through the sky, helping golfers lower the flight of their drives.
Tour Soft
In contrast, the new Tour Soft offers longer distance and more spin around the green through the creation of a new core. “Golfers who tee up Tour Soft are looking for soft feel and performance throughout the bag,” said Titleist Vice-President of Marketing Jeremy Stone. “Every change we made to new Tour Soft gives players a better golf ball from tee to green.”
Key Technologies
New Core
A new 1.608 inch diameter core makes it the largest ionomer-covered core in the market. This is the key to speed and distance off the tee.
FusaBlend Cover
A reconsidered FusaBlend cover increases spin and control around the greens. Fusablend is a Titleist proprietary combination of ionomers and softening polymers used to create a cover material with spin performance and feel that is unmatched among other ionomer covers.
TruFeel
Titleist has recreated TruFeel with a new core to offer distance and the soft touch golfers expect. “With new TruFeel, our goal was to keep what people love about the product and deliver even more performance in the short game,” said Mike Madson, Vice President, Titleist Golf Ball R&D.
Key Tech
Cover
A softer 3.0 TruFlex cover increases greenside spin.
Dimple Pattern
Each golf ball model at Titleist has its own unique dimple pattern to optimize aerodynamics and flight for its respective construction. TruFeel’s 376 tetrahedral dimple pattern delivers the penetrating flight and total distance that TruFeel players count on.
Core
A reworked core provides distance and offers Titleist’s softest feeling ball yet.
Congratulations on your upgrades. That is why your golf balls are the best. Thanks for the information.
Joe.
