“Golfers love the classic design,” says Bill Price, TaylorMade’s Senior Director of Product Creation, Puters & Wedges. “With Truss, we’ve kept that look and offered what we’re calling a ‘stability superstructure.’”
Price’s take is clear—some golfers aren’t likely to move away from traditional blade putters, even if the data presented to them suggests they’d be better off if they did. Part of the problem is visual—many golfers simply don’t want to see anything they consider bulky.
Problem solved. To work around this, TaylorMade created a truss hosel in the Truss putter. Essentially an angled addition that is largely invisible at address, the truss hosel design limits twisting. The concept is the same way a truss would be used on a bridge. In other words, it is designed to stabilize the putter. TaylorMade engineers wanted to offer a familiar look at address while providing the stability one gets from two connection points with the clubhead.
“What we’re seeing in the data is the path is very consistent,” says Price.
And that means you’re going to make more putts.
The Truss hosel also increases the club’s stiffness, improving sound and feel in the process. The Cobalt Blue PureRoll insert is included in the club to get the ball rolling faster and on target, while offering a great feel.
Like many of the best putters, the Truss models can be adjusted to your preferred center of gravity.
