Analytics are taking over sports—and golf is no exception. TaylorMade’s Spider Interactive putter combines the performance of the Spider Tour putter with real-time stroke analytics powered by BLAST Motion Sensor housed within the grip.
“This is really aimed at the early adopter who is keen on learning the details of their putting stroke, and using it as a practice tool,” says Jamey Dees, Product Line Manager, TaylorMade Golf Canada.
Spider Interactive automatically syncs valuable stroke data directly to your mobile phone, so you can analyze, refine and master your putting.
“For a teacher who is working with a student, or a player who wants to dial in their stroke, this provides a ton of data,” says Dees.
Key technologies:
- The putter measures key metrics, including timing (backstroke, forward stroke, tempo, stroke speed and face rotation).
- The Blast Motion sensor is built into the top of the putter grip, making it unobtrusive for the golfer. This does not impact the swing weight of the putter.
- TaylorMade has devised an app to work with the putter (iOS and Android versions are available) that makes it easy for the golfer to get immediate feedback.
- The app also features video recording and playback capabilities.
- The Spider putter is the same as those currently on the market, and includes a 304 stainless steel frame combined with a lightweight 6061 aluminum body enabling weight to be positioned at the extremities, providing improved stability and high MOI.
- The putter includes the Pure Roll insert with a gunmetal finish to promote better forward roll, increased directional accuracy and improved distance control.
Who is it for?
Spider Interactive is aimed at those interested in using the latest technology to learn more about their games and their putting stroke. The app highlights the optimal two-to-one backstroke to forward stroke ratio, and allows golfers to generate immediate feedback and practice in real time. There’s no question the putters will also find a market with golf instructors who want their students to understand how to improve their putting.
Is this available to purchase as a grip to be fitted / tuned to other putters?
Hey Marc, Unfortunately it’s not a feature that is sold separately.
