TaylorMade announced the latest additions to the company’s acclaimed Spider franchise of putters—the Spider GTX and Spider GT MAX.
The new Spider GTX resembles past Spider shapes with the re-introduction of True Patch technology and a new extreme back weighting for forgiveness. The Spider GT Max brings a new element of adjustability, performance, and movable weight technology.
“What we’ve done with the GTX is brought together two of our most popular putters in our past—the Spider Tour and Spider X,” said TaylorMade Golf’s Director of Product Creation, Bill Price. “And with GT MAX, this is the first time we’ve ever had adjustable weights in a putter, which will lead to optimization of face rotation.”
Spider GTX
Setting the standard for performance and construction, the GTX once again features TaylorMade’s True Path Alignment which helps frame the ball and create a path to the hole. The back weight stability bar is made of heavy stainless steel and creates a deeper centre-of-gravity (CG) for less face rotation and enhanced stability.
The Spider GTX comes in various hosel positions, six colours, a Pure Roll 2 face insert, and all feature a KBS 120 chrome stepped shaft and SuperStroke GT 1.0 grip.
Who is it for?
Do you like making putts? If so, this extremely stable and forgiving Spider GTX is for you.
Spider GT MAX
The Spider GT MAX brings a new element to the table of adjustability with movable weight technology. With the shape of a classic Spider-series putter with True Path Alignment, the GT MAX’s secret sauce lays under the hood. A weight track on the sole of the putter allows two 40-gram tungsten weights to slide independently to create different performance settings. With the weights all the way in the back the deepest CG and stability is achieved; the weights in the middle increase toe hang with minimal face rotation; and the weight in the front has the most face rotation and toe hang.
The Spider GT MAX comes in two hosel options, a KBS 12 black stepped shaft and a SuperStroke GT 1.0 grip.
Who is it for?
If you’re after the most adjustability a putter can offer, the GT MAX is for you. You arrive early for a round of golf and hit some putts on the practice green but keep missing on the high-side of the hole. You grab your putter wrench and adjust the weights for some more toe hang and face rotation and immediately start making the putt.
