You do not golf like a professional, but that does not mean you cannot play a ball that is up to professional standards.
TaylorMade understands exactly this, and ever since they launched their initial Tour Response, golfers of all skill levels have gravitated toward its premium construction, crisp urethane cover and softer compression feel. Swiftly crowned as the preeminent mid-market golf ball, TaylorMade has continued to improve Tour Response, equipping the latest iteration with several key upgrades for greater distance and feel.
The Tech
High-Flex Material Mantle
For the vast majority of golfers whose swing speeds do not exceed 100 mph, Tour Response’s lower compression point adds significant distance throughout your entire set. Add to your yardages while saving on your loonies with Tour Response—that’s a combination every golfer can appreciate.
Urethane Cover
The true mark of a premium golf ball is its urethane cover. A silky smooth material that lends itself to a natural grip, urethane is used in Tour Response, giving it a premium feel and look. Urethane is also renowned for its durability, meaning you can play more golf with fewer golf balls—and hopefully fewer shots.
Dimple Driven
For the first time since its release, Tour Response will be utilizing the breakthrough dimple pattern used in TP5 and TP5x, which is the most aerodynamic design the company has ever created.
Tour Response Stripe
New this year is Stripe, an available Tour Response model that’s equipped with a 22mm alignment band—that circumnavigates the ball to provide useful insights at address. If you need help lining up your putts and want to ensure you are hitting the centre of the putter at impact, this innovative design will surely be of assistance.
Is it for me?
The commercial success of Tour Response can be attributed to its broad appeal, catering to a large section of golfers whose swings are neither Tour fast nor slow. Those with moderate swing speeds who require a softer ball that is easier to compress than TP5 or TP5x, while still retaining key technologies and materials that are found in a higher price point ball, will benefit from TaylorMade’s latest offering.
SOFT RESPONSE: TAYLORMADE’S SOFTEST BALL FROM COVER TO CORE
In addition to Tour Response, TaylorMade launches its softest golf ball from cover to core with 2022 Soft Response.
With increased softness from cover to core, Soft Response is the softest ball in TaylorMade’s arsenal, designed to give amateur golfers enhanced feel while maintaining ball speeds and distance.
Soft Response is designed for moderate swing speed players with a new, softer core and a re-engineered ionomer cover for added greenside spin.
The changes produce a softer ball with an overall 50 compression (versus a 60-compression rate in the previous generation). An added SpeedMantle layer in its 3-piece construction creates an efficient energy transfer at impact, resulting in a softer ball that enhances feel and maintains both ball speed and distance.
A unique Extended Flight Dimple Pattern decreases drag and optimizes lift, allowing the ball to stay in the air longer at lower speeds and lower spin rates.
