TaylorMade launches Gloire, lightweight prestige line

In markets like Japan and Korea, there’s a significant market for “prestige” or super-premium golf clubs—lightweight drivers with incredible engineering, and sets that are designed to help players get the ball in the air and improve their distance. That’s exactly what TaylorMade is doing with Gloire, a limited line in Canada that captures the best in playability, performance and aesthetics.

Gloire represents the best of what is going on in the Japanese market,” says Jamey Dees, TaylorMade Canada’s product line manager.

The line offers a mix of lightweight tech, with forgiveness and playability and allows golfers, to generate some additional distance, especially those with slower swing speeds. With a forged face in the driver—a must in Asian markets—an emphasis on aerodynamics, and aimed at a high launch, Gloire will certainly have its own cult following. The line is offered in men’s and women’s versions.

Aesthetics

Gloire looks like a premium product—which is exactly what it is. The colour scheme is unique, distinguishing Gloire from any other TaylorMade product.

Advanced Shaping

Designed to improve clubhead speed for golfers who are looking to increase distance. A raised aerodynamic crown cuts through the air and allows for smooth airflow along the top of the club. A re-engineered Inertia Generator is positioned for seamless airflow across the sole and designed for enhanced speed on the downswing

Multi-Material Construction

The multi-material construction and carbon paneling result in a lightweight design that’s built for speed. The use of premium ZATEC titanium allows engineers to make the face thin and strong, resulting in a 50% larger sweet spot in comparison to the M Gloire line. “We like to say ZATEC is the craft beer of titanium,” says Dees.

Other tech

You’ll find some of the other technology you’d find in other TaylorMade drivers—Speed Injection and TwistFace—incorporated into the Gloire drivers. The drivers have a draw bias.

The rest of the line

While the driver is clearly leading the way in the line, TaylorMade offers a fairway wood, Rescue and irons.

Fairway Wood

With multi-material construction making the fairway wood line super light, the Gloire fairway uses a lightweight carbon crown and toe panel deliver significant weight savings.  A refined center of gravity placement makes for a hotter launch, stability and forgiveness, while a heavy 40 gram internal heel weight encourages a draw-bias. The overall package is larger at address, inspiring confidence.

Rescue

Once again, lightweight is the key, with a draw bias built in. This hybrid launches easily, with a profile that inspires confidence. Offered in a Regular flex shaft (akin to a senior flex) and a SR flex, which stands for stiff regular.

Irons

Designed for forgiveness and performance, with a draw bias built in, this is a game improvement iron for those who like the best things in life. With a wide sole design to improve versatility and turf interaction, and SpeedBridge HT strategically placed along the backside of the iron for efficient energy transfer, everything about Gloire irons is about speed and distance. Of course, the irons come with a forged face offering a large sweet spot and hotter ball speeds. Note: The Gloire irons are only offered in a right-handed model with graphite shafts.
