Taylormade Enhances Shot Control And Forgiveness With Addition To The P·Series Family

Not everyone feels comfort when striking the ball with their hybrids or woods. For many golfers, this normally results in watching your ball find the trees more than the fairway, or that bunker next to the green. TaylorMade’s mission was to add an alternative option by welcoming their new P· UDI and P· DHY into the P·Series family.

Designed for low handicap golfers— the P·UDI and P· DHY offer versatile shot shaping abilities with a mid-center of gravity in the club face, which generates a low ball flight with piercing velocity. Even with increased shot shaping ability, TaylorMade has labelled the P· UDI “more forgiving than P·790,” the much-discussed hollow iron line that’s been so successful for the equipment maker.

The P·DHY addresses that issue of slicing, while TaylorMade are touting it as “the most forgiving iron” in TaylorMade’s entire line. For some golfers, hybrids can be a challenge, especially for those that hook the ball. The new P·DHY isn’t going to instantly make you a scratch golfer. However, it will increase consistency, and matches well with your iron set while offering the distance of a hybrid or high-lofted fairway woods.

Both clubs optimize the top end of your bag, providing golfers with versatility when hitting long par 3s and approaching short par 5s. Following extensive testing by TaylorMade’s engineers, both clubs possess more ball spin capabilities to hold greens when approaching these holes through the club’s lower trajectory when striking the ball.

Key Technology

Tour Inspired Shaping and Performance

P· UDI – Provides players a balanced look while possessing a strategically positioned CG for a penetrating ball flight with backspin for players who demand shot making with long irons.

P·DHY – Holds a shallower face height, increased sole width and longer blade length to create a super forgiving and versatile long iron. Designed with a low CG for a mid-high launch—still giving players a lower trajectory then hybrids and high lofted fairways for mid-range spin.

Individual Mass Optimization

P· UDI and P·DHY – Clubs that are unforgiving and sound clunky are a golfer’s nightmare—TaylorMade ensured golfers avoid that with their advanced thick-thin back wall construction, sound stabilization bar, and deliberately distributed mass to maximize forgiveness. To improve your game each iron is uniquely designed with every gram strategically placed to achieve specific performance goals with premium forged feel.

Optimal Launch and Forgiveness

P· UDI and P·DHY – The enhanced design is made to deliver golfers an easy launch, increased forgiveness and consistency. The new internal weighting structure is a key component for the irons—it’s combined with proven technologies such as the forged 4140 OptiFace, Speed Pocket™ and up to 26g of tungsten.

Thru-Slot SpeedPocket

P· UDI and P·DHY – Often when golfers hit a low face strike, they lose ball speed and give up distance for the ability to control the shape of their shot. However, The Thru-Slot Speed Pocket™ is another new addition to the irons that increases face flexibility while still preserving ball speed and distance to provide golfers with maximum control over their shot.

Which one is for me?

The DHY launches higher and is a bit larger, providing confidence that the shot will perform the way you envisioned, while the UDI fits nicely with iron sets for those that were never comfortable with a hybrid.
