The drivers and irons typically get all the glory when manufactures announce new products. The fairway woods and hybrids are typically “sprinkles” on the hot fudge Sunday.
This is not the case for Srixon’s new lineup of ZX fairway woods & hybrids. Both follow a similar blueprint with levels of flexibility and thickness — part of the Rebound Frame — that helps efficiently transfer energy to the golf ball that focuses on delivered speed and outstanding distance performance. Both products will officially launch in North America on January 15, 2021.
Fairway Woods
The powerful technologies and tour preferred shaping combined with the Crown Step serves the purpose of lowering the mass within the clubhead to lower the CG. Srixon also implemented the Cannon Sole which features a weight pad that bring as much weight closer to the face as possible while still keeping it low enough.
The 3-woods use a carbon fiber crown to manage the weight while the 5 and 7-woods are full steel heads.
The Srixon ZX fairway woods are available in a 13.5 and 15-degree 3-woods, 18-degree 5-wood and 21-degree 7-wood. The Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 is the stock grip with a HZRDUS Smoke Black 60 (low launch, low spin) is stock in R (5.5), S (6.0), and X (6.5) flexes or if you are looking for a higher launch and spin the EvenFlow Riptide is also available.
Hybrids
Using the same technology such as the Crown Step and the Rebound Frame found in their fairway woods. Srixon say they have created their most stable hybrid to date.
The stainless steel face that is both thin and flexible, is designed to surround the hitting surface to help transfer more energy into shots when they hit the ball in the sweet spot. Combined with the lower the center of gravity and lowering the Stepdown crown’s mass, Srixon said that golfers should hit the ball higher and the moment of inertia will increase as well as protecting the ball speed and make the hybrid more stable on off-center hits.
Like the fairway wood, the ZX hybrid has a tour preferred shape at address with a glossy-black crown. It comes in five lofts ranging from a 16-degree 2-hybrid, 19-degree 3-hybrid, 22-degree 4-hybrid, 25-degree 5-hybrid and a 28-degree 6-hybrid. The stock grip is a Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 with two shaft options, either a HZRDUS Smoke Black 80 or an EvenFlow Riptide Hybrid 85.
Both the fairway wood and hybrid will be available in store and online January 15, 2021.
