Scotty Cameron launches new T22 putters

The Approach

Available at 10am ET August 16th on golftown.com, Scotty Cameron has relaunched the Teryllium insert line, coming out with a new Newport and Newport 2 model, along with a Fastback 1.5, the first to offer a Teryllium insert model. Created in the U.S. at Cameron’s studio, the putters, devised from 303 stainless steel and given a black matte finish, are an update of a much-loved line. “T22 gave us the opportunity to take everything we’ve learned over the past two decades and refine the entire look, feel and performance,” Cameron says. “Like a modern day muscle car, everything looks original at first glance, but each component is brand new. Better milling. Better materials. Better construction. They’re made to game.”

Key technologies
  • The black matte gives the putters a tactical look, and brings out the designer’s unmistakable domino pattern in the cavity.
  • By updating the Teryllium insert with a new elastomer, the latest version dampens vibrations.
  • Combined with a removable sole weight, the putter has an increased head weight.
  • The putters use a precision milled Teryllium insert expertly designed into a 303 stainless steel putter head, but with improvements through modern milling techniques.
Options
  • Teryllium T22 Newport: A version of the putter that launched Tiger Woods’ career at the 1997 Masters, the new Newport has the look of the original, with numerous upgrades, including a flat topline, adjustable sole weight and the Teryllium insert.
  •  Teryllium T22 Newport 2: An homage to the early Newport 2, but with a modern shape and sole balancing, this model also offers interchangeable sole weights.
  • Teryllium T22 Fastback 1.5: This putter incorporates a mini-slant neck, often found on the PGA Tour, and four-way sole balancing to promote a square setup.

  1. I have the original teryillium putter. It has a black oil can finish. Will the new putters change to this oil can finish when you start playing with it or will they stay black?
