It was at last month’s PGA Merchandise Show where we first saw a new shoe in sight at the FootJoy booth. It was here that the company first introduced its new Tour S model. Its stylish, bold and modern look is sure to turn some heads when you walk to the range. At the same time, stability has long been a key for FootJoy shoes, and the company says Tour S improves on anything it has launched previously.
What You Need To Know
- With a wider cleat pattern than D.N.A Helix, the company’s hit from last year, FootJoy says Tour S allows the player to maximize ground force, which is a key for the golfer looking to generate power from the ground up.
- Some golfers found D.N.A. to be a little heavy, so FootJoy offers a stable, but lighter shoe in Tour S. FootJoy did this through the use of Pebax, a light TPU, in the upper, and carbon fibre in the outsole, instead of a metal shank.
- There’s a big focus on comfort in Tour S, with a foam collar that offers a comfortable fit that moulds to your foot, and a dual density fit bed for perimeter stability. There’s also a raised section near the heel designed to keep your foot from moving around. Finally, FootJoy tapped into its best waterproof leather.
- Launch Pods—this is FootJoy’s term for the cleat areas of the shoes. But in true FootJoy fashion, they toned them down through the use of clear TPU.
Who is it for?
The golfer that has an active lower body during their swing and needs to remain as stable as possible. Golfers with high swing speeds are also a target. In other words, a lot of amateur golfers could benefit from the increased stability provided by Tour S.
These shoes are over priced. I have seen alot consumers complaining about the price on other websites both in Canada and the US
