Odyssey’s newest putter offering, the EXO line combines the White Hot feel and sound with Microhinge insert technology.
Taking Odyssey’s most popular mallet head shapes—Seven, Rossie, and Indianapolis—EXO offers maximum MOI (or forgiveness) with advanced multi-material construction, while using many of Odyssey’s key putter technologies. The putters come in face balanced and toe hang options designed to fit your individual stroke.
“The change is simple—when you look at the math, and everything is data driven—you can see technology that makes the ball roll better,” says Sean Toulon, General Manager of Odyssey Golf. “If you’re not putting with something that has roll-enhancing face technology, you’re losing out. That’s what we’ve focused Odyssey on—roll-enhancing face technology that gets the ball rolling with top spin.”
Product Highlights
Forgiveness
With a light milled 6061 aluminum, the goal for Odyssey’s putter designers was to take weight away from the center and move it to the perimeter of the putter. That creates a higher moment of inertia (essentially the putter’s forgiveness) and more consistent ball speeds.
White Hot Microhinge Insert
One of Odyssey’s most notable technologies, the Microhinge Insert creates forward roll right off the stroke, a key to making more putts.
Mallets
The EXO line offers face-balanced and toe hang options with S necks, which allow for more face rotation in the stroke. “These mallets are more forgiving,” says Toulon. “Even tour players don’t hit it right in the middle. If we can give those players something that is fractionally better, and that putt goes in to win the Masters, then it changes their life. This is Money Ball meeting putting. They can’t ignore the number.”
Who’s it for?
EXO offers options for golfers who have tried to switch from something more traditional, but want the benefits of technology. One key, Toulon says, is the new line really benefits those who used traditional blades, and the toe hang concept allows those golfers to make an easier transition. “The problem in the past was mallets were face-balanced,” Toulon says. “So if you grew up putting with something that had a lot of face rotation, it was hard. But the new mallets, with toe hang, eliminate that.”
