“We love Toronto. It is a great golf city.”
That’s Odyssey General Manager Sean Toulon’s reasoning for creating the Toulon Toronto putter, the first of the boutique flatsticks to be named after a city outside of the United States. A face-balanced putter with a notchback blade with a single bend shaft, the Toulon Toronto is extremely limited, and is another beauty from the firm that operates inside of Callaway.
The Design
To create a putter that was specific for the Toronto market, Toulon tapped into the city’s iconography, devising something that was deeply connected to the Six. The logo, which Toulon says he’s very proud of, includes a Maple Leaf with the CN Tower inset. He would have gone further if the design permitted it.
Every putter Toulon creates takes a few months to develop, and the Toronto isn’t any different. With access to Callaway’s extensive research and development team and milling equipment, Toulon developed Toronto to fit within the expanding range of putters the firm is offering.
Key Technologies:
- The putter comes in a matte black finish, which is Odyssey’s most popular finish on tour.
- Toronto has a premium black shaft to provide a unique aesthetic.
- Every head is milled from 303 stainless steel, and the face takes 40 minutes to mill.
- The contact point on the face uses a crosshatch grove pattern to create a uniquely satisfying sound and feel.
- You can easily increase or reduce the head weight by installing a variety of sole plates that range from 350 to 383 grams.
“I would have loved to have a hockey puck in it,” he jokes. “But you can’t have everything.”

About Sean Toulon
Sean Toulon has been a student and practitioner of club design since joining the golf industry more than 30 years ago. He founded Zevo Golf in the 1990s and was a driving force behind some of the most innovative and iconic metalwoods, irons and putters introduced since the turn of the century. He founded Toulon Design in 2015 along with his sons Tony and Joe Toulon, and BJ Taylor. He joined Callaway soon after and was appointed as the head of the company’s putter line, but the Toulon brand continues, creating unique high-end putters like the Toronto. With the exception of a putter developed for Sergio Garcia, all of the flatsticks the company has created are named after a geographic location.
“My goal is to be able to exercise my brain and come up with something very artisan where there might be 10 or 20 made,” Toulon says. “My kids are into it, and we get to dream up some very cool products.”
Why is this not available in the Ottawa area?
Hello, It’s limited edition and only available in select doors, so we focused on the Greater Toronto Area. It is available online though: http://www.golftown.com/Toulon-2018-GT-Exclusive-Toronto-Putter-51476
