The end of summer typically brings with it some of the hottest new gear of the year, and this September isn’t any different. New irons from Mizuno, wedges from Cleveland, and drivers and fairway woods from Srixon, are all hitting the market with significant buzz.
Cleveland RTX 4 Wedges
Cleveland wedges have long been one of the hottest items at Golf Town, and the new fourth-generation of its RTX wedges. Designed with significant tour input from the likes of Keegan Bradley and Graeme McDowell, the RTX wedges promote feel, control and versatility. The clubs have a renewed focus on the centre of gravity to improve trajectory, and the hosels are shorter to reduce the weight in the heel, improving the CG. Finally, the clubs come with Tour Zip grooves that are sharper and more aggressive, with each face laser-milled for more spin.
Who are they for
Golfers need to replace their wedges regularly, and Cleveland’s RTX 4 is sure to be a leader in the space for players seeking a tour-look, and interested in refining the flight of their scoring shots from 100-yards and in.
Srixon Z Series Woods
While Srixon’s irons and golf balls have long been regarded as amongst the best in the world, the company has struggled to draw attention to its woods. That should change with the company’s Z Series. The key to the lineup, which includes fairway woods and hybrids, is the Z 785 driver, which the company says produces three miles per hour more ball speed than Srixon’s previous models, and up to 10 more yards of distance. The company says these gains were made through its Ti51AF Cup Face, which is lighter and significantly stronger, which creates more ball speed at impact. The club’s carbon crown also allowed for a lower and deeper centre of gravity, helping improve forgiveness.
Who are they for
Love your Cleveland wedges? Always enjoyed Srixon golf balls? Well the company now has a long and hot driver with a lot of forgiveness. Its tour pros are already switching away from competitive products, and so it appears the time is right for avid golfers to check out the Z Series and see how it measures up.
