Mizuno builds upon driver success with launch of ST200

For years, Mizuno struggled to gain attention for its drivers. Perhaps it was the blue graphics that were off-putting, or the fact that its most notable player—Luke Donald—played a rival product. That changed last year with the ST190. Suddenly Mizuno gathered some steam with players using the product on both the European and PGA Tour—and winning.

That means there’s some anticipation for the new ST200, Mizuno’s latest driver, which hits stores in March. If you didn’t check out the ST190, you’re going to be surprised by the firepower Mizuno brings to its latest driver.

Here’s what you need to know about the ST200.

New face

Using multi-thickness, the forged SAT 2041 Beta Ti is 17% stronger than the ST190. Mizuno says this means off-center shots will benefit, and there’s a great sound. There’s also a refined head shape, crafted to meet tour specs. That means it is slightly flatter on the crown and offers a slightly flatter lie angle, which will appeal to better golfers.

Low spin

Low and deep CG means the driver will offer low spin, a key when it comes to finding more distance.

Forgiving

The addition of a 11.6-gram backweight balances off low spin with forgiveness. The driver is adjustable for both fade/draw, and allows for less spin with the weight shifted to a forward position.

Who are they for?

ST200

This feature-rich driver will likely be attractive to the largest number of golfers. Easy to fit, this is for the golfer who really wants to dial in their specs.

ST200G

A spin killer. Are you finding your drives creeping up over 3,000 rpm? This is the driver that will knock down that spin and increase your distance.

ST200X

High launch with a draw bias, this is the driver you’re going to want to consider if you slice the ball. Aimed at golfers with lower swing speeds, this is inspired by the light drivers that have come out of Japan in recent years.

Custom Fitting

Mizuno’s shaft optimizer is an industry-leading tool to help you get into the right shaft/clubhead combination. By measuring key factors like clubhead speed, tempo, release factor and other elements, Golf Town Master Fitters can suggest shafts that will help improve you distance and consistency with Mizuno clubs.

Availability

Look for the ST200 lineup to hit stores in March.
