Introducing The New Scotty Cameron 2024 Phantom Putters

Max Homa was having a difficult time on the greens before moving to a Scotty Cameron mallet. Since then he’s won five times in the last three years. That’s the power of the Scotty Cameron Phantom line, which saw 10 new models hit the PGA Tour. Four showed up in Hawaii and six more will come out in coming weeks. The first new model showed up in Cameron Young’s bag when he made the move to a new Phantom 5 with a prototype knuckle neck in the second event in Hawaii.

In all, there are 10 new models, all completely redesigned from the ground up, with reconceived alignment through adjusted head shapes, and better sound and feel. With four different neck and shaft configurations, and advancement in multi-material construction, this is a Phantom line unlike anything that’s come previous.

“We’ve taken [PGA Tour player] feedback and designed the new Phantoms to give players useful, intuitive alignment features, not only with the sight dots and lines visible at address, but also with the overall shape of each model. Every aspect of the putter design is working together. Every angle has been refined to accentuate a down-the-line view, so the player has a clear and confident look at every putt.”  Says Scotty Cameron.

Alignment

The Phantom line was created with shapes that focused on how they impact the alignment of the golfer. Alignment cues are found throughout, ranging from sight dots on the 5 and 7 models, to straight lines on the 9 model, and arrow-shaped direction on the 11.

Multi-Material Design

Each Phantom starts with 303 stainless steel integrated with 6061 aircraft aluminum in the flange and sole. This design is more rigid than in the past, adding stability and a more solid feel, with vibration dampening.

Dual-Milled Faces

The dual-milling process provides better sound and feel while combining deep-milled softness with the feedback and consistency of mid-milled offerings. Each of the new Phantoms undergoes two millings to create a more consistent surface.

Weighting

Each Phantom comes with two weights that can be added to the heel and toe, along with stepless shafts. A new Full Contact paddle-style grip is also utilized.

Aesthetics

Each Scotty in the line uses a silver mist process for a radiant yet glare-resistant appearance. The 6061 aircraft grade aluminum components have been misted and anodized in a black aluminum finish.

Details

Each model comes in shaft variations from 33 to 38 inches with multiple neck/shaft configurations (low-bend, mid-bend, straight shaft or jet neck).

The Phantom Line

Phantom 5 Series

Designed with an updated, slightly more compact shape with refined wing angles to enhance alignment, the near-face balanced Phantom 5 features a mid-bend shaft, new sight dot alignment and a blade-like feel. The 5.5 uses the same head shape with a jet neck for those that prefer the alignment features of a mallet with the toe-flow of a blade. The 5s is nearly face balanced with a straight shaft and zero offset, and an unobstructed view of the leading edge of the face from address.

Phantom 7 Series

With updated contours, slightly longer wings, new sight dot alignment and a subtle shape shift for a straighter outside wing angle, the Phantom 7 places emphasis on alignment, stability and MOI with a mid-bend shaft. The Phantom 7.5 incorporates a jet neck to promote a flowing stroke in a stable, high-MOI mallet (and is available in left-handed version).

Phantom 9 Series

Featuring a mid-bend shaft and a completely reconsidered shape that offers long sight lines for improved alignment along with an angular, “ring-weighted” profile to deliver forgiveness and feel with high MOI. The 9.5 uses the same shape and alignment cue, but with a toe-flow promoting jet neck.

Phantom 11

Reworked completely, this face balanced uses multi-material to create a forgiving mallet with a stable, mid-bend shaft and new arrow alignment features. The 11.5 uses a low-bend shaft for moderate toe-flow, for the golfer seeking the alignment features and forgiveness with a shaft design that helps the putter swing on a slight arc (available in a left-handed version). The 11 Long uses a 38-inch shaft in the 11 head shape. It is a counterbalanced model with a longer 17-inch grip and a mid-bend shaft to accommodate the overall heavier head, which includes two 25-gram tungsten sole weights. Created to quiet the hands of the golfer and make a more balanced stroke.
