INTRODUCING TAYLORMADE’S ALL-NEW SPIDER ZERO TORQUE PUTTER

Stable, centred, forgiving and consistent.

Andrew Oldknow, Director of Product Creation for Woods and Putters at TaylorMade, wanted to ensure they went above and beyond for their latest Spider project. “We weren’t just going to make something similar to what everybody else was going to make,” he says. “We really wanted to make sure we study the system and make something better.”

Given the amount of new and updated technology in the putter, TaylorMade seems to have met their goal in creating something not only for tour players, but players who are searching for strokes gained, confidence and consistency in their game.

Key Technology

High MOI Toe Up Design

Forgiveness has always been available when putting with a spider, with the ZT the user gains a high MOI toe up design. TaylorMade engineers have triangulated centre of gravity properties to maintain a toe-up position. The 100% milled multi-material constructed face and three strategically placed TSS weights, promotes purer rolls when in use.

Low-Torque Shaft Orientation

During the design phase, TaylorMade engineers positioned the CG 25mm behind the Spider ZT’s face. This allowed them to bore and place a shaft directly in line with the CG with 1° of onset. This not only reduces the amount of face twisting that occurs, it also helps present the shaft in a forward-facing position that eliminates the chance to add loft, resulting in a purer stroke and roll.

Improved Sole Camber

The Spider ZT has a heel-to-toe cambered sole accommodation to fit a wide array of player types. It’s designed to work specifically with the hosel configuration. The result? Golfers can sole and aim the putter at address and deliver the same squared up position at impact.

Premium Milled True Path Alignment

True Path Alignment isn’t a new feature when it comes to Spider putters. It has, however, been revitalized in the Spider ZT. Instead of appearing as a white stripe on the top of the putter, it shows as evenly spaced, thinly milled lines on the top of the 303 stainless steel face.

Pure Roll Insert

As with previous spider putters, the SpiderZT utilises TaylorMade’s Pure Roll insert. Created with a combination of surlyn and aluminium, the insert has grooves that are angled at 45 degrees to promote forward roll.

Spider ZT Specs and Options

The Spider ZT’s standard length putter is available in lengths of 33 to 35 inches. The stock shaft is the KBS CT Putter 120 Stepless Back. The stock grip is the Superstroke Pistol 1.0 set 1 degree off axis. Loft is 2.5°, lie angle 70° and head weight is 370 grams.
