Bringing the company’s most advanced technology and super lightweight construction, Callaway’s Great Big Bertha is ideal for the slower-swinging golfer who likes the best of everything.
A line of clubs for those seeking the most advanced materials packaged under one of golf’s most historic brands—that’s what the Great Big Bertha family of irons and drivers brings to the market. More tungsten. A super premium aesthetic that’s less game improvement and more pro.
“It is changing the course of what has lived in this segment for Callaway for a long time,” says Canadian marketing manager Brent Mallard.
Great Big Bertha Irons
Two words—more titanium. That’s what Callaway’s first ultra-premium multi-piece titanium-designed iron brings to the market. There’s almost 50% more tungsten in this iron than in previous generations, making it forgiving, while its lightweight creation makes it faster.
Key Tech
Titanium Face and Body
By using materials typically found in pricey drivers, engineers found 96 grams of discretionary weight, which is positioned to make these irons more forgiving and easier to get into the air. The face on the Great Big Bertha irons are the thinnest ever created by Callaway, while the body flexes more at impact than traditional steel, transferring more energy to the strike.
Speed Cartridge
The 145-gram Tungsten Speed Cartridge provides the deepest centre of gravity Callaway has created to date.
AI
Although Callaway has been using artificial intelligence to design its clubs for some time, this marks the first time both AI and titanium have been used in a Callaway iron.
Are they for me?
Like the entire line, the Great Big Bertha irons are all about speed and forgiveness, with a dazzling appearance. If you’re a slower swinger, and you like to show off some sharp-looking sticks, these should be in your wheelhouse.
Drivers and Fairways
The Great Big Bertha is a legend at Callaway, representing the first of the big-headed drivers. The new Bertha has the cachet of its predecessor, while also being lightweight so it creates tremendous ball speed. The fairway uses many of the same technologies, including titanium that’s not usually found outside of a driver.
Key technologies
Lightweight
How lightweight? 30 grams lighter than Rogue ST MAX. Callaway engineers used a Triaxial Carbon Crown and Forged Carbon Sole on the driver to really set it apart, something the company hasn’t done in recent years. That means the driver has a low center of gravity, making it easy to launch and forgiving on mishits.
Jailbreak
One of Callaway’s key technologies for energy transfer, Jailbreak increases stability across the face.
AI Flash Face
Lowering spin increases distance, which is why Callaway used artificial intelligence to create a formula to increase speed.
Premium Components
The driver uses an ultra-premium UST Helium Nanocore Shaft and Winn Dri-Tac Lite grip, all created around the lightweight nature of the driver.
Are they for me?
By using titanium in a way rarely seen outside of a driver, the Great Big Bertha Fairways are truly unique, and helpful for those golfers looking for distance into the green. The driver has a sophisticated look and tons of technology, making it ideal for golfers whose swing speed is under 90 miles per hour.
Callaway’s Great Big Bertha irons, drivers, and fairways will be available exclusively online.
