TaylorMade SIM, SIM Max and Max-D
TaylorMade’s new Shape In Motion driver (SIM) is designed to hide the main innovation—an asymmetric sole that makes it both more forgiving and knocks off spin, making it a win-win. The driver comes in three versions—the standard, which is the most adjustable, as well as a larger Max version and a draw-biased version.
Is it for you?
SIM brings all the tech of the previous gens of TaylorMade drivers (TwistFace, Speed Injection) while adding an asymmetric sole that increasing speed and MOI. If you want to get the most adjustable version, the standard SIM is going to be the best choice, while those seeking the forgiveness of a larger head will turn to the Max, and those who slice will want to consider Max-D
Titleist TS Drivers (1-4)
A company that embraces the game’s traditions, the TS drivers offer more ball speed, longer drives and options for who love the classic look of a Titleist driver. The new TS Metals offer four distinct designs that bring more speed to your game.
Is it for you?
TS1 is aimed at players with a slower swing, TS2 is modern in appearance and launches higher, offers more forgiveness, and aimed at those who might not be the most consistent with their driver swings. The TS3 is more of a player’s driver, with less spin and lower launching, and TS4 is for golfers who want to knock spin off their drives.
Callaway MAVRIK (Standard, Sub-Zero, MAX)
An evolution from Callaway’s recent Epic and Rogue drivers, MAVRIK continues to capitalize on the gains made through the use of artificial intelligence. More forgiving, with tighter overall dispersion on shots, and four to five miles per hour faster in the company’s testing, the driver is also significantly easier to hit—with up to 30 percent higher moment of inertia, essentially the measurement of how forgiving the driver is.
Is it for you?
With three versions—standard, low-spin (Sub-Zero) and one offering more forgiveness and a larger head (MAX), Callaway says this is its fastest driver yet. The MAX offers the most draw bias, while the Sub-Zero is the low spin version.
Cobra SPEEDZONE (KING SPEEDZONE and the KING SPEEDZONE XTREME)
Everything about this driver screams fast—and that’s the point. Cobra is building out from its previous drivers with a CNC Infinity Milled face that ensures the sweet spot is at the limit, and a T-Bar Speed Chasis that helps maintain the energy through the shot. Both models also include COBRA CONNECT powered by Arccos to help you track your shots and stats.
Is it for you?
Golfers with more consistent swings are going to want to consider the KING SPEEDZONE model, while those who need something a bit more forgiving will benefit from the XTREME model
Cleveland HB Turbo
Lighter, faster and with a higher moment of inertia for more forgiveness—that’s all part of the package of Cleveland’s latest driver. With a deep crown that allows for the weighting to be pushed back without making the driver spin too much, the HB Turbo, with its lighter hosel, is great for getting the ball in the air without losing distance.
Is it for you?
Do you need help getting the ball in the air? What about finding fairways? Cleveland continues to hone its drivers for the game improvement crowd. If you’re looking for a strong blend of distance and forgiveness, the HB Turbo is worth a test drive.
