The high-end Japanese company that made trans-pacific waves last year after signing Justin Rose has unveiled its latest product line, the TR20 series. The new line includes two driver models and two sets of irons, which will be available at Golf Town March 15.
Here’s what you need to know about the new lineup.
TR20 Drivers
Honma says their TR20 driver, available in a 460cc and 440cc model, is their greatest technological achievement to date. The TR20 460, currently played by Rose, offers a larger clubhead with greater depth and a tapered crown, while the TR20 440 has a slightly smaller clubhead and a higher front-to-back profile.
Key Technologies
TiCarbon Fast Frame
Both TR20 drivers utilize Honma’s exceptionally advanced TiCarbon Fast Frame, combining ET40 carbon derived from Toray Composites and a lightweight titanium frame to deliver extraordinary speed.
Adjustability
Honma utilizes three adjustable weighting options to provide greater adaptability and clubhead optimization. Additionally, both face and loft angles can be changed by 1.5° and 1° respectively, to meet your desired trajectory and shot shape. The result is a driver that engages with individual swing tendencies for greater control and an increased MOI without altering the overall orientation.
Shafts Options
The TR20 drivers use Honma VIZARD shafts available in 50, 60, and 70 grams with varying EI profiles. Crafted using premium materials and engineered to take advantage of individual swing characteristics, these shafts are an important feature in the creation of these comprehensive drivers.
Availability
The TR20 driver will be available in select Golf Town locations and on golftown.com March 15.
TR20 Irons
Shifting gears, Honma’s new TR20 series irons are as aesthetically pleasing as they are performance-drive. Available in two models, the TR20P and TR20V, these irons are thoroughly engineered and pristinely-crafted to help improve your game.
TR20P
The high-launching, wonderfully generous TR20P irons deliver a complete ball-striking solution. Forged from S35C steel, these irons are equipped with a tungsten weighted cavity for a greater MOI and a lower gravitational centre, delivering optimal launch trajectory. If you’re looking to carry it further and consistently hit more greens, the versatile TR20P irons are definitely worth a closer look.
TR20V
Forged from soft S20C carbon steel, the high-performance TR20V irons offer a slightly shorter blade than their TR20P counterpart but still maintain an exceptionally forgiving, solid feel. Designed with a subtle cavity back for greater distance and control, these one-piece irons have a slightly thicker sole and top line, making your mishits more playable.
Shafts Options
Honma VIZARD TR20-85 graphite and Nippon Modus 105 shafts come standard with both TR20P and TR20V irons. Shaft lengths are tailored to each iron to produce ideal flex and speed on every shot.
Interchangable
The design commonalities between the TR20V and TR20P irons allow players to seamlessly integrate both models into one customized set. Find your set’s makeup by booking a Custom Fitting Appointment with a Golf Town Master Fitter starting March 15.
Who are they for?
Here are two iron sets that will appeal to different golfers, but can be integrated. The TR20P will help the golfer who needs the tech to get the ball in the air with their longer irons, while the TR20V is designed to help you score. Putting the two together and the low-to-mid handicap golfer will get the best of both worlds.
Availability
The TR20V and TR20P irons will be available in select Golf Town stores and on golftown.com beginning March 15. The TR20B irons, which are ultra- high-performance irons played by Justin Rose, are set for release later this summer.
