Hi-Toe Raw Heralds a New Age of Versatility

The Hi-Toe wedge model has been a fan favourite among weekend warriors and top tour players alike. The wedge’s taller face, or rather higher toe, offers more surface area for improved contact consistency from various lies. But not only is the face just bigger, it’s also groovier, with deeper, narrower grooves from heel to toe, leaving no spot susceptible to knuckling chips. The all new Hi-Toe Raw wedge will be available both online and instore Friday, February 19.

Rawfully Handsome

The major development with this release is TaylorMade’s implementation of Raw Face Technology into the Hi-Toe model, and in doing so creating one of the more distinctive wedges on the market. The idea behind Raw Face is simple—they’ve allowed the face to rust by omitting a protective cover in order to deliver optimal grab and spin. Think of this way, would you want to go down a rusty slide in your bathing suit? Didn’t think so. But when it comes to delivering that cheese-grater bite we want in our wedges, rust is what you’re looking for. The wedge comes in a beautiful copper finish, which will look all the more fitting once the face begins to oxidize.

Low Launch; High Spin

One of the most notable traits that golfer’s love about the Hi-Toe is the penetrating, flighted trajectory it provides, resulting from strategically located CG. The lower ball flight is further complemented by increased spin. We’ve all seen those low skippers that stop on a dime, a shot tour players love to play—this wedge will make those beautiful shots all the more accessible to your average amateur.

Vaunted Versatility

The clubhead’s unique shape, with its wider sole and lower leading edge, lends itself to a variety of shot types. Hi-Toe Raw’s larger face and narrower topline makes one want to attempt a Mickelson-esque flop shot, while the wedge’s overall aesthetic gives the impression it can slice through rough like a sickle. But it’s more versatile than just being able to do that. The extended face provides gives golfers the ability to play hooded bump-and-runs to utilize the ground game.

Is it for me?

There really is no type of player that this wedge won’t benefit. Sure, there are more game-improvement options on the market if you’re struggling with chunking it, but if you need something that combines spin, control and unrivaled versatility, you’ve found it.
