Leave it to PING to come up with something called “Spinsistency.” Yep, that means mixing spin and consistency. It turns out fairway woods would often spin very differently depending on where the ball struck the face. The goal of the new technology is to normalize spin. The drivers are found in three versions—the main G425 model, as well as a low-spin model (LST) and any slice model (SFT)
Tech
Facewrap Technology
The Facewrap design, a thin, high-strength maraging steel face extends into the crown and sole to provide increased flexing for faster ball speeds that result in greater distance and high launching shots.
Spinsistency
Fairway woods usually offer a lot of additional spin on low strikes. PING modified the face curvature to limit spin and increase ball speed. Robot testing revealed significant distance when shots were low on the face.
Forgiving
Like PING’s drivers, G425 fairways offer high MOI with a tungsten sole weight to add forgiveness.
Is it for me?
Like the driver line, there’s a G425 that is pretty much for every golfer. The standard fairway will fit most, but if you’ve got too many RPMs, check out LST and those with a slice will want to investigate SFT.
In addition to the release of the G425 fairway woods, PING’S 2021 lineup also includes the G425 drivers and G425 irons.
