Fitness Tips to Improve Your Golf Game

With 2018 upon us, and much of Canada in a deep freeze, many are making New Year’s resolutions to get more active, and maybe work off some of those extra desserts they indulged in over the holidays.

What if you could improve your golf game at the same time by increasing your flexibility, balance, and get your body moving better? To get started you’re going to need some gear—and it is surprisingly inexpensive and easy to put to use in your regular workouts heading through Canada’s colder months. We recognize how important fitness and flexibility is to your game, and is offering items designed to help you improve and play the best golf of your life.

Here are a few products new to Golf Town that can help you get into tip-top shape this off season.

Yoga mat

Flexibility is a major factor for many golfers, especially given the amount of time many of us spend sitting at a desk looking at a screen. Lifestyle choices are a big factor in how our bodies are able to react in our golf games. So start with a yoga mat and maybe some YouTube videos on stretches for golf. Who knows—maybe you’ll need that mat when you become a regular at your local yoga studio.

Exercise ball

Used in a wide variety of golf fitness activities, an exercise ball is key to increasing core and glute strength, and can be used to help promote stability, essential if you want to hit that big drive. Available in 55cm and 75cm.

Power Band Kit

Golf fitness experts, like TPI, often stress using low-impact exercises with Power Bands of various tensions to help golfers engage their core in workouts. Easy and simple to use, every golfer should have a few options at their disposal.

Balance Cushion

An excellent way to add challenge to your workouts, this soft disk can be used in a wide variety of activities—from yoga to pilates—and helps work your core muscles.

Massage Stick and Foam Roller

Working on those troublesome areas of your body—legs and arm muscles—is a key to increasing flexibility. You’ll see pro golfers carrying foam rollers and massage sticks in their travel bags to help work out those sore areas. Physiotherapists see these implements as a key part of recovery from workouts and injuries.

  1. I also would like to propose to you my concept for an indoors golf trainer AND evaluator.
We, golfers, who live in a cold country like Canada do not have dry golf courses and, thus, we do not play golf for a few monthes. Paying public indoors golf clubs are expensive. Then, for me having a golf indoors training tool to hit real golf balls AND see HOW we hit them, straight, fade, or draw, is helpful for all the golfers who live in a cold rainy or snowy country. Will you work with me to develop such a device? If not, do you have any references?
    Thanks; please reply
