Earlier this week Jason Day teased us with a glimpse of TaylorMade’s new P760 irons and today, the company officially introduced it to the golf world.
TaylorMade’s P700 series set the standard for player’s irons, with some of the best players in the world—think Rory, Dustin and Jason—turning to these blades. Now the company announced today the extension of its globally successful P700 series irons with the introduction of the P760, which replaces the P750 and P770 irons, offering a progressive design from 3-iron to pitching wedge.
The P700 series is where technology meets tradition. Designed for stronger players who want to work the ball and have a strong sense of a well-struck shot, the “7” in the series indicated the length of the club. Thus the P760 is a mid-point between the irons it replaces, offering the best of the P750 and P770—great feel in the short irons, and improved performance in the longer irons. With a progressive shape, P760 offers tour performance in irons that are individually optimized.
Key Technologies
Forged multi-material design
From a single forged head to a hollow body head—that’s the key to the unique progressive nature of P760. From wedge to 8-iron, the clubs come in a single piece 1025CS forged head, while the 3 to 7-irons have a hollow body and utilize TaylorMade’s SpeedFoam technology. The hollow cavity offers consistent distance and increased forgiveness (MOI), while the shorter clubs have the feel the best players expect.
Shaping
TaylorMade engineers wanted to ensure the progressive nature of the P770 irons met the demands of the best players. Everything in the set has been engineered for shot making, with a sole and leading edge that delivers clean interaction with the turf.
SpeedFoam
SpeedFoam technology, which was first introduced in the highly popular P790 irons last fall, has been incorporated into the P760’s 3-7 irons. SpeedFoam generates additional ball speed, while also creating great feel and sound. SpeedFoam is injected into the club in liquid form and increases face support.
Who’s it for?
Brian Bazzel, TaylorMade’s vice-president of product creation, says the new irons provide the best of both worlds—great feel in short irons, and some added technology to make the longer irons more forgiving.
“With P760, we set out to design a players iron for Tour-level competition, combining all the elements that are most desirable to the better golfer,” he says.
“The P760’s progressive set shaping enables short irons to be compact and precise while the long irons take on a hollow construction, injected with our revolutionary SpeedFoam. P760 is designed to inspire confidence whether you’re attacking pins from short range or sticking greens from long range.”
While these irons are designed for the best in the game, with the new technology and progressive design, better golfers are going to want to test the P760s out as well.
IF YOU DONT MENTION THE PRICE THEY ARE PRICED TOO HIGH LIKE ALL YOUR STUFF
THIS IS NOT KNEW! When Lee Travino was a Taylormade staff player he designed this same product as a matter of fact I believe he scored his hole on one in the skins game with the 5 iron.
